Dinan is one of those towns where you can happily loose many hours just wandering the streets. Although it is not a large town, and you can (and should) explore the whole thing on foot, there are a huge number of delightful little alleys, attractions and monuments to past eras throughout the town. Whether you decide to walk along the river banks, around the old ramparts or just wherever your feet decide to take you, there are a couple pf places you really must visit from a Dinan property. The 14th Century Dinan Castle makes essential viewing, as does the Tour d’l’Horoge, and the ancient Rue de Jerzual is packed with fabulous little shops selling local crafts and antiques, atmospheric pavement cafes and art galleries.

If you would like a quick round of golf during your Dinan holiday, help is at hand. The magnificent La Cobinais Golf Course is located within 15 miles of a Dinan property, offering 18 holes of challenging golf in the beautiful Breton countryside. After a round, you can return to your Dinan property and head out to a bar for some famous Breton cider or calvados.

Each year in July, Dinan springs into life as the Fete des Remparts comes around again. The town is transformed into a maze of colour, and inhabitants dust off their finest medieval garb. The festival is celebrated with vigour, and over the two days, over 400,000 visitors pass through the town, as Dinan property comes into extremely high demand. The amazing city of St Malo is very close to accommodation in Dinan, and is well worth taking a day trip to. The famous walled city is one of the most loved attractions in Brittany, and for good reason; the ice cream alone is worth it! There are a whole host of stunningly beautiful buildings in St Malo’s old town centre, with small, twisting streets hiding a range of great shops, mouth-watering restaurants and peaceful cafes from the outside world. The Chateau St Malo holds the city museum, an excellently presented story of the city.

Ferries leave and arrive into St Malo with amazing regularity, making a Dinan gite or apartment very easily reached from the UK.
