200 year old cottage that has been tastefully and sympathetically restored

La Metairie cottage situated in the Blavet Valley in Southern Brittany has been comfortably and suitably furnished for couples to enjoy peace and tranquillity in lovely rural surroundings. The self catering accommodation has a beautiful walled garden with timber decking allowing guests to enjoy the long warm summer evenings for alfresco dining. Alternatively there are many local restaurants, creperies and bars along the river at St Nicholas des Eaux or Melrand. Our cottage comprises two bedrooms, two bathrooms, large galleried sitting room, dining room and separate kitchen. A rural hideaway in France, what could be better than enjoying the best life can offer in a peaceful haven.

Our charming cottage can be discovered in the heart of the Breton countryside in a small hamlet just a short distance from the village of Melrand. Although we offer a peaceful holiday, we are just 14 km from the busy medieval towns of Baud and Pontivy and the beautiful beaches of the Gulf of Morbihan are only 35 minutes away. You will have a choice of visiting the long sandy stretches of Carnac beach or the small coves of Locmariaquer and Le Men Du or even going further afield to one of the many islands. For those of you who prefer a change from the beach, the nearby lac du Guerledan and the Blavet river offer beautiful walks and cycling along the tow paths. Nearby, for the more active among you, there is kayaking, horse riding and golf.

  • Our trading currency is pound sterling, but we can accept Euro at the exchange rate available at the time of the transaction.
    These rates are for one couple. As this property has two bedrooms, extra guests (up to a total of 4 people) can be accommodated, the extra cost will be confirmed on request.
    At the time of booking a security deposit of £125 (or €150) will be requested and returned within 2 weeks of the end of the holiday
  • Reservations for part weeks may be possible and, with the exception of peak season, will be worked out pro-rata from the weekly rate.

  • Just off the sitting room the ground floor bathroom is modern and spacious. The bathroom upstairs is modern and has a large shower enclosure and heated towel rail. Bath towels are provided.

The second bedroom is on the ground floor, and is beautifully furnished with a queen sized brass bed, 2 bedside cabinets and antique pine chest of drawers.

Notes: The kitchen is situated off the dining area and is completely fitted with solid wood units and beech worktop. It is fully equipped with all new modern conveniences. French doors lead onto the decked area in the garden.The bright and spacious sitting room is furnished with two chesterfield sofas, antique leather side chairs and coffee table. Adjoining the sitting room is the dining area which looks out to the rear garden through the French double doors opening onto a decked area.The walled garden is laid mainly to lawn with fruit trees, shrubs and fragrant plants and the decked area can be used for sunbathing and entertaining, being illuminated at night.The accommodation we offer is also our home and therefore we have tried to equip and furnish it to a high standard that we ourselves would expect. Our cottage has modern conveniences and is situated within easy reach of international airports that can take full advantage of low cost and regional air travel and also local ferry ports.

Wonderfully relaxing stay

We were fortunate to stay in this wonderful property in Sept. 2008 (where does time go?). It was exceptionally clean , beautifully maintained,tastefully decorated and very well equipped. We cooked most of our dinners there and the kichen had everything we needed. The cottage is very spacious and handled 2 couples easily.We had dinner at Le Cheval Blanc in Baud one nite and La Tonneliere in Melrand another nite. Both great but especially liked the local ambience of La Tonneliere.We did day trips around the countryside to Quimper,Vannes,Pontivy,Auray, Carnac,Josselin and a bike trip along the Blavet river. Would recommend this place to friends,just know it is in the country and you must drive for groceries,wine etc!!!
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing

Cottage and locality wonderful - so peaceful. Highly recommend 'La Tourelle' in Melrand - food excellent. A visit to the coast at Carnac a must.

A lovely 'home from home', especially as we took British weather with us! Not able to enjoy alfresco meals as much as we'd hoped, but lovely and cosy inside!
