Local attractions:
Dinan is 6km and is a well preserved, charming medieval town. It has something to attract everyone, historical sights, cobbled streets, excellent shopping and numerous restaurants & outdoor cafes. The fabulous city of Rennes is only 45 minutes by car. Rennes is of historical interest and has one of the largest markets in Northern France (Saturday morning) with an amazing display of local food produce. There are many designer shops including a branch of Galerie Lafayette. Dinard with its lovely beaches can be reached in 30 minutes and from there it is possible to get to St Malo by a short ferry ride thus avoiding parking in St Malo. From St Malo a day trip to Jersey is possible. Mont St Michel is 45 minutes away and has been called the Marvel of the Western World owing to its island setting, its rich history, beauty and architecture. For children:
There are many attractions for children. The area has many clean and child friendly beaches. One of the many alternatives to the beach is Bourbansais, a zoo where the animals are not in cages, with bouncy castles and play and picnic areas in the grounds.
Getting there:
The closest channel port is St Malo which is only 33km away. However this is a long crossing, the total time is no longer on the short crossing from Dover if you do not mind the 6 hour drive. Speed Ferries from Dover now offer a return crossing for car and upto 5 passengers from 50GBP if booked early. Flights to Dinard which is 20 minutes away are available from Luton with Ryanair. Prices start at 33GBP return including taxes in low season.
