One of our best holidays ever at Le Gohic!

Eliza Bennett Stratford upon Avon, England
Review Submitted: October 3, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
My husband and I spent two weeks at Le Gohic in the heart of Brittainy in September, staying in the Le Cidre cottage. It was one of the best holidays of our lives. This hamlet of cottages is run with great skill and care by Sheila and Robin who are ideal hosts - always helpful but never intrusive. All kinds of activities and possibilities are provided for. There is a nice pool in a lovely setting; there is an indoor cabin with a whole range of games for rainy days; there are standpits and swings and other equipment for small children. Bikes are available for touring the lovely, peaceful paths which run along the Blavet River and Robin will even help fit the bike rack onto your car. The cottages are very comfortable, with big, log-burning stoves, comfortable sofas and good television provision, should you want that. Kitchens are fully equipped. I was very impressed by the thoughtfulness behind so many small but important choices. The whole setting for Le Gohic is wonderful, buried deep as it is in the Brittainy countryside.

This is a deeply rural part of France, very untouristed, and a place to see up close French village life. But it is also ideally placed for visits to the coasts, especially the south coast of Brittainy. We thought Vannes especially was a lovely city with its marina, access to the Morbihan bay and especially its magnificent old town. The food hall in the old town is highly recommended.

We also enjoyed several visits to the local creperie, just a walk down the lane, appropriately called Le Coin Tranquil, and enjoyed the pretty town of Josselin as well as visits to the art exhibits in the local chapels. The reconstructed village of Poul Fetan is also well worth a visit.

So a very happy holiday in a beautiful, peaceful setting (the only sound at night is the hooting of owls). We highly recommend Le Gohic and plan to go back as soon as we can.

again and again!! What a lovely place, we have been twice now and were not disappointed the second time. Le Gohic is everything it says it is, a peaceful, beautiful place. The owners are lovely and there is a lot of attention to detail which makes it all more special. My children love it there and can't wait to go back again.

You must go here

Review Submitted: July 10, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Just arrived back from staying at one of the cottages in Le Gohic. We stayed in the 2 bedroomed Le Cidre. We have been holidaying in France regularly over the past 24 years and this has to rank as the best gite we have EVER stayed in. The website does not do the place justice. Robin and Sheila, warm and welcoming owners have the whole hamlet immaculate from the moment you arrive in the car park to the gardens which are so well tended, the pool area safe and secure, clean and with plenty of loungers to catch the sun between swims. Then there's the cottages, spacious and so well equipped, microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer add to that all the little things provided which you normally have to buy, such as washing up liquid, kitchen rolls, cloths, coffee and tea. I could go on.!! The whole house was spotlessly clean and the upstairs had carpeted floors in the hall and bedrooms and bright and spotless bathroom. Linen and towels (all provided) were of very good quality and again so clean. We had our own private garden at the rear of the house and a hammock in case the days got too strenuous!. My daughter (11) is a child of the computer age and the free wifi connection suited her just fine. She sent several e-mails to her friends telling them all about the place; the heated swimming pool, the clubroom with an extensive library of DVDs and Videos to suit all ages. Table tennis, pool table, boules, trampoline she had it all !!! The service my wife and I liked best was the delivery of fresh bread and croissants most days, this made for a lazy start to the day. Le Gohic had everything, it is rural but a matter of a few minutes drive to town. A local creperie which served delicious food and plenty of walks and bike runs all around. The only dowside was we had only booked a week. If you never go anywhere else in France you must go here.

Peace and quiet in Brittany

Old Geordie Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire
Review Submitted: May 18, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
We cannot remember what prompted us to try Le Gohic right now - we had been on many holidays in France but never to Brittany. I do remember that the website was instrumental in giving us a clear view of the type of accommodation and the availability of things to do in the area.

Whatever the reason Jenny and I are so glad we did - Robin and Sheila were excellent hosts, available when we needed them but we were also left to enjoy our holiday as we pleased.

Le Cidre is a lovely cottage in Le Gohic (a wonderful collection of cottages in a small hamlet) and it was so well presented - clean, comfortable and very homely. The facilities are wonderful - a lovely swimming pool, a 'clubhouse' full of things to do, outside relaxing areas a-plenty and a boules pitch! There is also bikes to hire and a great service for self-caterers - Robin delivers fresh bread to your door each morning :-)

We found the peacefulness of this place wonderful - we could even see the stars at night - and we enjoyed the ambience of the place. There was an abundance of information about the area and where to go/what to see, as well as a well-stocked library of books and films for when the weather was not so kind.

This was our first trip to Le Gohic (and Brittany, so we travelled quite a lot seeing the sights) but it will not be the last. We are taking our whole family back there in October for a well-earned late break and are looking forward to it tremendously!

looking forward to our 4th holiday at Le Gohic!

D & J Lot-et-Garonne
Review Submitted: September 7, 2008 Date of Stay: March 2008
Many hours of searching the internet paid off when I came across Le Gohic. I found the website very informative and the response to my enquiry almost instant, so we booked! And from the moment we turned into the drive I knew that I had made the right choice. Le Gohic is a truly magical place and the accommodation charming & welcoming just like the hosts, Robin & Sheila! We found Le Cidre spotlessly clean and well equipped with quality furnishings and crisp white linen; it really did exceed all of our expectations.
The grounds and private gardens surrounding the cottages have been thoughtfully planned and extremely well kept. It is soon very apparent how very hard Robin & Sheila work to provide such a fantastic destination for a special holiday. Le Gohic is also very well situated in the heart of the beautiful Blavet Valley, with easy access to so many interesting places to visit, from historic towns & villages to fasinating archaeological sites to stunning sandy beaches. There whole area surrounding Le Gohic is also great for exploring on foot with lots of interesting walking tracks to discover - find maps for this in the well equipped club house!
I really can't think of one reason to stay anywhere else in Brittany, so we will continue to visit Le Gohic on a regular basis!
