What a Relaxing, Family Orientated Hidden Gem !!

Fred 'n' Saoirse and kids Sligo, Ireland
Review Submitted: August 12, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We travelled from Ireland to Le Gothic in May 2009 with my parents who were in dire need of a restful break. Myself, Siofra (I was 2 3/4 years old) and my baby brother (he was 6 months at the time) loved Le Gothic and the beautiful area. We met lots of other little friends and mummy and daddy had great fun exploring all the local markets and sampling the fantastic Breton food.

Owls even came at dawn after baking bread throughout the night to deliver us lovely fresh bread and other goodies in the morning. In fact we loved it so much that we are coming back again in October. Daddy says that he can't wait and mummy is very happy too. We just can't wait too start another amazing adventure!

Daddy says that Le Gothic is the kind of place you always hope exists but that you never manage to find. You trawl the internet and self-catering websites and you settle for second best and then bang - you find Le Gothic !! you then know you have found just what you've been looking for. Le Gothic has all the right little touches; the kind of decor that even the most discerning guests cannot be dissapointed with and gardens and setting that is magical.

Lovely family holiday

David/Amanda Surrey
Review Submitted: August 4, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
This was a wonderful holiday in peaceful and picturesque surroundings. Le Gohic is so beautiful and so relaxing that for 5 or 6 of our 14 days there, we didn't even venture out. There was plenty for our children (aged 8, 6 and 3) to do on site and the pool was fabulous.

Robin and Sheila are charming hosts who were happy to help with booking a horseriding trip and advising on beaches, kayaking etc. And it's hard to resist having fresh croissants and bread delivered every day for breakfast.

The cottages were large, spotless and well thought out, equipped with everything one could wish for. There was plenty of space in the hamlet so that even with all the cottages full, it never felt crowded.

The local creperie was great with the children and the beaches on the Quiberon peninsula were fabulous.

The best we can say is that we really did not want to leave. It was a great holiday and we would not hesitate to recommend Le Gohic.

Holiday in heaven

Aud, Phil, Annie London, United Kingdom
Review Submitted: July 20, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
Holidays are so precious, we invest so much hope and expectation in choosing the perfect location. So often we arrive in our "traditional Breton", "luxury", "rural retreat" to be rather disappointed that the hype on the website has been, well just that. We have never returned to the same place twice. And we have learned how to interpret the cliches.

Until Le Gohic.

Since our first visit in July 2008, we have returned again this year for 2 weeks and have just re-booked again for 2010. Having spent many years searching for greener grass, we believe we have found the lush centre court of Brittany. It really is like the pictures on the website.

The cottage is beautifully presented, impeccably clean, superbly equipped, and frankly more tasteful than my own home. The gardens are lovingly maintained. The clubhouse and childrens play area offer a very safe haven for children of all ages. Our 4-year-old would announce she was going out and for the first time in her life she went without any argument or fear from us. She made new friends and so did we. She swam her first full length after many weeks of lessons. But this pool is probably the prettiest of all pools in Brittany. Oh, and I mustn't forget the daily delivery of fresh bread and croissants without changing from my pyjamas.

Le Gohic is literally in the heart of the Blavet valley which offers so many beautiful villages and creperies to visit. The creperie down the hill (au coin tranquille) is pretty unbeatable for friendliness and value.

The beaches at Quiberon peninsula and Carnac are about 45 minutes away (on a busy traffic day). They are so clean and offer a very high standard of local eateries and facilities.

There are a countless number of historic towns worth visiting, e.g. Rochefort en Terre, Josselin, Vannes, Auray.
Lots of stuff for children. So much we didn't have the time in 2 weeks.

Sheila and Robin, the owners and hosts at Le Gohic, have put their heart and soul into creating a unique haven (sorry that sounds like one of those brochure cliches). I don't know why I am writing this review as I don't want anyone else to go there. Just me and my family. 51 weeks a year. 1 week at home to make sure Santa Claus finds us.

See you next year

Lambs London
Review Submitted: April 15, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2007
Finding a decent holiday cottage is always a minefield! So when you find a good one you are tempted not to say anything to anyone in order to keep it for yourself. However, Le Gohic has five fantastic Cottages and so we are happy to enthuse about them .
Robin and Sheila have created a relaxed atmosphere where nothing is a problem. From the well kept grounds to the Baguette and Pain aux chocolat run Robin does in the morning, life is relaxed and comfortable.
We have three children and find the amenities spot on for the family. The cottage we have used for the past two Summers actually sleeps six without having to resort to pulling out a sofa bed! The cottage is charming and very well presented and the added extra of Tea bags and washing up stuff means that you don't have to lug vast amounts of added extra bits from Blighty.
Service is important to Robin and Sheila; at the end our first summer we e-mailed back to say thankyou but did note that it was hard to find mint in France (Pimms don't you know). Robin and Sheila obviously listened as the following year they had planted a herb garden with mint! As ever it is those little things that show that your host takes things seriously.
For as long as our kids want to holiday with us, Le Gohic is likely to be at the top our list as a place to go. We are returning this summer, with, I am pleased, some friends who have also made Le Gohic their first choice for a holiday in France .
