Set in three acres amongst WOODLAND and ROLLING HILLS , the special atmosphere of this PRIVATELY OWNED HAMLET guarantees you a relaxing and carefree holiday. Each DETACHED COTTAGE(gite) has its original farmhouse features with huge granite fireplaces, massive oak beams & lovely old country furniture. The cottages are all very different & each has its own PRIVATE GARDEN, terrace and BBQ area. The cottages are ideal for GROUPS of 2, 4, 6 or 8. Alternatively, ENJOY THE LUXURY of renting EXCLUSIVE USE of the whole hamlet for GROUPS of UP TO 30. One of the dining rooms can be rearranged so everyone can eat together. In the grounds, there is a 11m x 7m secure HEATED POOL with huge sunbathing deck. There is a large play area with TRAMPOLINE (with safely net), swings, sandpit, boules, climbing net, table tennis, badminton, golf net & GAMES ROOM. The hamlet is EXTREMELY CHILD FRIENDLY & parents can relax, knowing their children are safe to play freely without supervision. WiFi access.

The oak beams and granite fireplace in the spacious open plan sitting room make this a very comfortable & inviting place to be, with lots of room for a larger group. There are comfortable sofas and armchairs along with some beautiful Breton antique furniture, english TV, DVD & video players & radio/CD/cassette player. The dining area has seating for eight. WiFi access. There is a downstairs cloakroom with WC & handbasin, as well as a separate shower room with handbasin. The kitchen is a delight for any chef, with stainless steel work surfaces, a large fridge/freezer, gas hob & oven, dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine, toaster & blender. There is also a large kitchen table with seating for eight. Upstairs, there are two large double bedrooms (both have king-size beds) and two twin bedrooms. There is also a second bathroom with bath/shower, handbasin, WC & shaver point. Outside, there is a private garden with outdoor furniture, hammock & parasol. Plus, a private dining terrace.

Le Gohic lies down a long private drive in quiet and tranquil countryside, amongst green rolling hills and lush wooded valleys. However, the hamlet is not at all isolated and there is an abundance of picturesque towns and villages close by. Just a leisurely stroll down the lane is the local bar and creperie where you will receive a very warm welcome. The village of Quistinic with boulangerie, chemist, mini-supermarket, post office and bars is three kms away. The nearest town, Baud, has a larger choice of shops, supermarkets, bars, restaurants and banks, and is an easy fifteen minute drive. The bigger town of Pontivy is 20 mins away and the modern city of Lorient, is 25 mins drive. The nearest recommended sandy beach is just 30 mins away at Port Louis. A bit further on, you will find a more a more abundant choice of beautiful white sandy beaches, fashionable seaside resorts and secluded rocky coves. The nearby River Blavet is great for fishing, canoeing, walking, jogging & cycling.

Our week at Le Gohic

Just got back from Le Gohic on Saturday evening and we were talking all the way back about how wonderful it was. We've stayed in Brittany several times now and we can honestly say that this was the best experience we have had!

What really made these gites stand out from the others we've stayed at previously was the thought that went into them. All the essentials are already there - tea, coffee, sugar, toilet roll, kitchen roll, etc! All too often we arrive at a gite to find that we have to go out shopping immediately to buy the essentials, but this wasn't the case at Le Gohic.

We also had the facility to pre-order an entire three course meal which we could just put in the oven when the kids were in bed. Fantastic! (In fact we got Sally the cook back two more times as the quality and value was so good!)

The kids were not at all under our feet as they had a completely safe play area (including a trampoline, sandpit, swings etc) and a heated fenced off pool which kept them busy all week.

The welcoming nature of the hosts Sheila and Robin was great. We really felt at home from the beginning and they couldn't do enough for us. The baguette and croissant delivery service in the mornings was really welcome (-thanks Robin)!

The space in each of the gites was great too. We stayed in La Mairie which was huge! Plenty of living space which was furnished in a typically French style. Nobody could complain about the size of the kitchen either. The photos do not convey the size of the whole place.

I was also particularly impressed with the cleanliness of the gite. Everything was immaculately clean which was important for us as we have three children under 5.

Anyway, thanks again Sheila and Robin! We really had a lovely time and we'll be sure to return and to recomment Le Gohic to all our friends!

A Perfect Place

Our family - Patrick, Karen Tom and Alice have holidayed at Le Gohic in 2004, 2005, 2007 and we are booked for 2009! The only reason we didn't visit in 2006 and can't visit in 2008 is because we were too late to make the reservation. This place is perfect although we don't want to shout too loudly about it because we would pretty much like to keep this idyllic find to ourselves!

This is a very special place for us - as cars aren't allowed in the hamlet itself (once you've unloaded on arrival) it's just the most brilliant feeling knowing the children can go off and explore the supberb grounds without having to worry - freedom for them, peace for us.

Do visit and enjoy - but don't tell too many others !!!
