Further details for this holiday cottage rental in Quistinic, France

Places to Visit: Le Crann is situated in the commune of Quistinic, host to the 16th century village of Poul Fetan, immaculately restored to show life at that time. If you want to step further back in time, outside the village of Melrand (15 minutes away) is the Village de l’an mil, a 1000 year old reconstructed medieval village. Close by there are many historic towns and castles to visit including Hennebont, Auray, Pontivy, Vannes and Josselin. Morbihan is renowned for its megalithic stones with so many special places to visit; Carnac with its 3000 standing stones a must see, but also those at Locmariquer, Petit Mont or even catch a boat to the island of Gavrinis. And if that’s not enough, the region has plenty of museums, zoos and parks. Art lovers can follow the “Art in the Chapel” exhibitions throughout the summer for a tour of the Blavet River chapels.

Things to do: The commune of Quistinic and the Blavet Valley is a walkers and cyclists paradise and the owner has details of many published routes with walking routes leading directly from Le Crann. For a lazy day, take a cruise down the River Blavet, or take one of many boat trips to the off shore islands and around the beautiful inland sea of the Gulf du Morbihan, where you can stop off on some of the larger islands for lunch, a walk and even a cycle. Within easy reach (35 to 45 minutes) are the many wonderful sandy beaches of Southern Brittany or the stunning lakes of inland Brittany. There is hardly a week that goes by without some festival in the region. Lorient hosts the delightful 10 day Inter- Celtique music festival and Josselin and Hennebont hold annually medieval festival. Many regattas are held at the yachting haven of Trinite-sur-Mer. And dont forget those local markets and brocantes for fresh produce or that antique bargain.

Activities: Fishing: Brittany has some of the best fishing rivers in France, as well as something like a third of France’s coastline, giving a great variety for keen anglers. Fishing permits can be purchased for a day, two week or annual period, and will cover fishing in the whole department of Morbihan, or for an additional fee you can purchase a permit to cover all of Brittany. Beaches: Whatever your type of beach there is a stunning choice of sandy beaches within 35 to 45 minutes, from golden sandy beaches, wild stunning stretches or sandy coves with rock pools, with a range of activities from swimming, sand-yachting, windsurfing, kite-surfing, sailing, surfing, kayaking Others: Adventure Park, Archery, Birdwatching, Boating, Boules, Canoeing, Clay-pigeon shooting, Cycling, Diving, Go-karting, Hiking, Horse riding, Kayaking, Nature-enthusiasts, Paint-balling, Quad biking, Rambling, Scuba Diving, Sea excursions, Shopping, Sightseeing, Swimming, Tennis, Tree-walking, Walking

Fuschia Cottage Aug 2009

Kiama Dublin
Review Submitted: August 30, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week stay in Fuschia Cottage. The setting was stunning with our private garden and the larger garden where the pool was situated surrounded by trees and walkways. Idyllic! It is very peaceful and tranquil and we would recommend that time be spent around the cottage and in the Blavet district ( a beautiful area which is very hilly and full of trees), rather than spending too much time in the car. It was great to have a second week as we took it much easier and often went no further than Minazen on the Blavet river which has a lovely little beach area and bar However there are plenty of places of interest to visit and we particularly loved Aurey and its old port. We thoroughly enjoyed Camors Forest Adventure Park (high ropes through the trees and zip wires) especially our 14 year old son. (Do book during summer months) Sue and Steve were wonderful hosts and patiently answered the repeated questions about directions and places of interest and we had great chats throughout our stay. Our younger daughter Jane and Maxine became great friends and had wonderful times swimming in the pool and playing together along with their little pal in Wisteria. We feel so relaxed after our holiday in Le Crann and would highly recommend it. "

Peaceful countryside perfect for outdoor pursuits!

Alyson, Bob, Abby, Greg and Oscar Biddulph, Staffordshire, England
Review Submitted: August 18, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
My husband and I shared a two week holiday with our daughter , her husband and our grandson at Fuschia Cottage at the end of July/August. The accomadation was brilliant - spacious, comfortable and very well equiped ( including things like dishwasher tablets!). It was lovely to have our own private garden and we were able to have breakfast outside everyday except for 2 days- Bob and Oscar certainly enjoyed the blackberries! The pool was just right for Oscar (2 years old) and his swimming skills developed 100% over the 2 weeks- it was getting him out that was the problem! There was also large groundsin which to run about and a small slide/swing play area which again needed a lot of ingenuity to get Oscar away from! The grounds were lovely and so quiet, there were lots of opportunities to observe nature - the butterflies were stunning. We took our bikes and there was a wide choice of rides in and around the area. The River Blavet was especially good for family rides. The area also has some very good mountain bike trails which the more energetic members of our family really enjoyed! We went to several beaches, some empty and quiet, others more lively but we were always able to park easily to unload the windsurfers etc. there seemed to be an endless choice of beautiful sandy beaches. We paticularly enjoyed Le Chevaux Blanc for dinner and the local Pizzaria was a lovely setting (a mill pond).Sue and Steve were really good hosts, they were welcoming (even at 11pm ), friendly and knowledgable - nothing was too much trouble!

Fuschia Cottage - July 2009

C M Kay Buckinghamshire
Review Submitted: July 16, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
Have just returned from a wonderful, early summer break at Fuschia Cottage with our 4 children (10,9,4 and 2) Sue and Steve were excellent hosts - on site to offer suggestions for day excursions but in no way intrusive. The Cottage is very pretty and is comfortable, clean and tidy - it was more than spacious for the 6 of us. The garden is beautiful, private and the swimming pool (with security gates for peace of mind) delighted the children every day. There is plenty to do in the area (you will need a car) - we travelled to the beaches of Carnac, caught a boat round the Islands in the Gulf of Morbihan and hired bikes for the family when feeling energetic! This is a lovely holiday for families with children of all ages - we were delighted with both Fuschia Cottage and its owners.

Beautiful and relaxing

PaulSueD Sidcup, Kent UK
Review Submitted: June 30, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We can only agree with the other reviews here. We read them before booking and can honestly say that they were spot on.
It was our first visit to Brittany and Fuchsia Cottage was an ideal base from which to explore. The cottage was beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean and well equipped and soooo peaceful.
It was a lovely place to return to each evening and our only regret is that we didn't allow ourselves enough time to enjoy the facilities and tranquility.
Sue, Steve and their daughter Maxine are lovely people who are always there if you need them for advice and we found their suggestions excellent for getting the maximum out of our stay, which was sadly for only one week. Next time we will do a fortnight.
The cottage is set deep in the countryside, so any drive is a joy on the empty roads of the region, we found the Sat Nav very useful.
We headed for the coast most days as the weather was brilliant for our week, and found an enormous variety of coves, ports and beaches within easy reach. But do allow yourself time in the local area, it is quite stunning.

Perfect getaway holiday

Gary, Liz and Darius Tetbury, England
Review Submitted: January 21, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2008
We enjoyed a wonderful two week stay in this delightful cottage last summer with our one year old son.
Our hosts Sue, Steve and Maxine were so friendly, welcoming and helpful, particularly with suggestions of good places to visit as this was our first visit to Brittany.
The cottage was well-equipped and very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed leisurely lunches in the garden followed by a swim in the pool in the beautiful grounds afterwards!
We highly recommend this as a perfect getaway to relax and unwind in a beautiful setting and for us, Sue and Steve, made this the perfect holiday. We cannot wait to return.
