A fantastic family gite, which has a large lounge with plenty of toys for young children. La Vieille Tinguaie is a restored 17th Century farmhouse set in beautiful child-safe grounds of 3 acres in the countryside just 30 minutes from beaches. We offer child friendly, family holidays. Children can enjoy our animals and pets including goats, cats, guinea pig and poultry. There are children's play areas with a playhouse and toy cabin, zip wire, tree house, table tennis, football pitch, swings, see saw,archery, slides picnic tables and BBQ. There is an above ground pool . A small paddling pool is available for babies. We offer children's play sessions and babysitting. We pride ourselves on freshly prepared meals, available on request to return to after a day out. Continental Breakfasts are also available. The fully fitted kitchen has a washing machine, dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave and cooker. There is a DVD and video player in the lounge along with satellite TV.

Facilities include Post Office, 3 bars, boulangerie, 2 epiceries, lake with fitness trail, restaurant, library, tennis court and playground. The village has an open air theatre where there are several events held during the summer including meals and music. The unspoiled, uncrowded beaches and the historic market towns of Dinan, Rennes and Lamballe are a short drive away. Nearby Merdrignac has an outdoor swimming pool, crazy golf, archery and fishing. Canoeing is available at Hunaudaye lake, the recently revovated chateau is worth a visit as is the fantastic velorail at Medreac. A zoo and fun park (0-12yrs) are near. The area is ideal for walking, cycling, bird-watching, fishing, horse-riding and golf (30mins) . Pony rides can be arranged for children. Adjacent to the house is La Haute Tinguaie which is the owners home. This is in 3 acres of woodland with a trout stream and spectacular granite rock formations to explore. Visitors are invited to share and enjoy these at their leisure.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Rates for short breaks and Bed and Breakfast are available from the owners. Meals will be charged for at the end of your stay.
    For longer stays during the autumn and winter periods contact the owners for very favourable rates.
  • ·We require a deposit of £150 or €225 at the time of booking for each week of your stay. This deposit is non refundable. We also require a security deposit of £150 or €225 to cover any damage to the contents or fabric of the gite or pool. This sum is payable at the time of the final payment and will be fully refunded to you, if everything is in order, within two weeks of the end of your stay with us.
  • ·Electricity: A weekly unit allowance of 200 units will be made and the meter read on arrival and departure. During the summer months it is unlikely that you will use more units than those allowed. When the heating is used it is likely that the unit allowance will be exceeded and a charge of 0.13€ per unit will be made. During the winter months (November to March) all electricity will be charged at 0.13€ per unit.
    For shorter stays than one week a daily proportional unit allowance will be made.

Notes: We pride ourselves on being very child friendly, our motto being that parents can holiday where they can enjoy the company of their children. Young children receive a small gift on arrival. There is a selection of clean toys and children's books in the lounge. The gardens and grounds are very child safe. The road is used by very little traffic, usually farmers and the postman. There are hygienic mattress covers on all beds and for asthma sufferers there are some antibacterial duvets. Each bathroom has a toddler step. There is a baby changing table. Please note that we provide 8 towels. We have 2 cots with bedding, and 2 high chairs with safety straps. There are 2 taller chairs for young children in the dining area. A buggy stroller is available to borrow should you not wish to bring your own. The garden has two tables and chairs with seating for ten. There is a Barbecue. There is outside lighting to the property.

Tourist Attractions: There are a wealth of attractions within easy reach of la Vieille Tinguaie. The medieval town of Dinan is well worth a visit and also hosts a large market once a week. Family favourites are: the Velo Rail at Meneac (Bikes are run along disused railway lines); the zoos at Bourbonsais and St Brieuc ; the beaches at val Andre and St Pabu; Cobac Theme Park; Mont St Michel; the old walled town and the aquarium at St Malo; Alligator bay at Mont St Michel; Hunaudaye castle, the clockwork museum; Jugon Les Lacs and Dinan Market. Many other attractions are listed in the house and of course there are many local events during the Summer.
