Shanamar is a large Breton detached farmhouse that has been sympathetically restored to a high standard. It is in a rural setting that is quite peaceful and very pretty. With 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms/shower rooms, Shanamar can sleep up to 12 people. There is very little passing traffic therefore safe for young children and giving an air of peace and tranquillity. There is a large garden, quarter of an acre, which is mainly laid to lawn. There are also plenty of trees providing shade from the summer sun. Our small out house has a dart board and table tennis table to keep the children amused. The garden is ideal for football and there is plenty of garden furniture for dining outside and sunbathing. The area is fantastic for walking, cycling and very close by sailing boats, canoes and pedalos can be hired.

Shanamar is situated in the Cotes d'Armor region in Brittany. Our farmhouse is in a peaceful rural location, 4 kms from Megrit. The village of Megrit has a bakery (which also houses the local bar) and excellent mini market. The nearby towns are Jugon-les-Lacs, a character village where you have bakeries, butchers, small provisions shop and a choice of 4 restaurants. Close by are Broons and Plelan which provide good supermarkets, banks, excellent restaurants and post offices. Shanamar is within easy reach of some of Brittany's golden beaches. The lovely sandy beaches of 'Côtes d'Émeraude' are just half an hour away. One place well worth visiting is Dinan, only 20 minutes away – described by some guide books as the prettiest town in France.

We can offer the Main House which has 3 bedrooms and sleeps 7 or the Cottage with 2 bedrooms and sleeps 5. Please contact us for the weekly rates for renting just the Main House or the Cottage.
  • There are duvets and pillows provided but you will need to take duvet covers, pillow cases, bottom sheets, towels and tea towels with you. In low season there may be extra charges to cover additional heating costs.

Jugon-les-Lacs: Jugon-les-Lacs is situated between two wooded hills, on the edge of a 4 km long lake. It is loved for it's outdoor activities – swimming, walking, fishing, sailing and historical architecture.

Dinan: Dinan is in an outstanding location overlooking the valley of the river Rance, the fortified town of Dinan is indisputably one of the most beautiful places in Brittany. Its belfry, churches, convents, half-timbered houses and narrow streets are well worth a visit.

Getting There: Whether travelling from the UK by ferry or plane, it is very easy to get to Shanamar. We are just 40 minutes from the French port of St Malo and 60 minutes from Dinard, the local airport. The other ferry ports of Cherbourg, Roscoff & Caen are only a few hours of 'comfortable' driving away.
