15th century large detached farmhouse with heated garden pool in North/ Central Brittany with good road access to both coasts and all attractions. With very modest rental rates the property is suitable for couples, families or larger groups. Many features in the farmhouse including spiral stone staircase, original granite fireplaces, slate flagstone floors, oak beams, exposed stonework. Huge open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area with four double bedrooms and two bathrooms. Well furnished with 4 poster beds, buffalo hide sofas etc. and equipped with all modern conveniences and appliances. Both the farmhouse and the two gites have under-floor and wall mounted heating for comfort and out of season rentals. This splendid 15th century Brittany farmhouse is set within its own tranquil grounds and is available to rent directly from the owners at reasonable rates. The property has many original features of a typical Breton farmhouse including a spiral stone staircase, beams, flagstone floors and a granite fireplace. The main farmhouse comprises of four bedrooms, suitable for sleeping 2-10 persons. The first adjoining gite has one double bedroom, and a sofa-bed downstairs,making it suitable for sleeping 2-4 persons. The second gite will have two double bedrooms and a sofa-bed downstairs, making it suitable for sleeping 2-6 persons. All of the separate properties are complete with fully fitted kitchens. This includes a gas cooker, microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster, television/video, radio/cassette and a washing machine. One of the luxuries that these properties have to offer is that all of the entire ground floors have been installed with under-floor heating!

Notes: The farmhouse has been tastefully restored whilst retaining original features. Some of these such as spiral stone staircase, slate flagstone floors and wood-burner could be a hazard for young children, elderly or infirm visitors who are very welcome subject to the above. Used as a family home the property is very comfortable and well equipped. There is a small garden pool which is a huge benefit in the summer months.

To get there: There are increasingly more flights to regional airports across Brittany from the UK with typical costs between £40-60 return. We recommend Brittany Ferries for quick and convenient crossings between Plymouth and Roscoff and a one hour drive on arrival in France. Alternatively Crossings to St. Malo, Caen and Le Havre can be used with an increased drive time in France. For visitors from the South or East of England the channel tunnel or short Dover/Folkstone crossings can be used but with a long drive the other end.

Callac: The market town of Callac is the closest centre of population being some two miles away by car. It is a quite town but with a range of activities to include a weekly street market, range of interesting shops, two major supermarkets, banks, cafes, bars and restaurants. It boasts a very attractive lake surrounded by wooded areas with nature trails and walks. Callac has its own tourist information centre with helpful and friendly advice on places of interest within the area.

The area: Slightly North of centre the top coast is within a 40 minute drive and the South coast slightly longer. Within the inland area and closer to hand lies the fabulous and unspoilt Gorge du Korong with huge granite boulders the size of cars and larger which can be clambered over as the river runs below. For the less adventurous there is a footpath running alongside! In addition to the various facilities and activities around Callac itself there are many places of historic or architectural interest within easy reach by car.

Das Haus war leider sehr schmutzig, dunkel, feucht, muffig. Die Dusche war undicht, so das das Wasser in die unteren Etagen lief, im Badezimmer floss beim Duschen die Farbe von den Wänden. Ein Bett war total schief, wir mussten Bücher unter die Bettenden legen, um einigermaßen gerade liegen zu können. Der Trockner befand sich im 2. Geschoss, ohne Möglichkeit ihn anzuschließen. Von den Heizgeräten war nur eins funktionsfähig. Keine Anleitung wie der Pool aufzuheizen war, es gab in den ersten Tagen keinen Grill. Der Gartentisch war nicht benutzbar, da er stockig und fleckig war (es gab keine Tischdecke), von Sonnenliegen oder gar Solarium keine Spur zu sehen.Es gab nur eine Nachttischlampe und es war Nachts wirklich sehr dunkel-Verletzungsgefahr! Glühlampen waren kaputt,wir mußten neue kaufen-britsche Fassungen,etwas schwierig! Leider war es kein entspannter Urlaub....
