The house is of a modern, contemporary style in a large garden with swimming pool. Views overlooking the 7th green and 8th tee box of the excellent Golf Club du St Malo in Le Tronchet, and the fishing lake. Only twenty minutes drive from St Malo ferry terminal and the same distance from Dinard airport (Ryan Air). Other first class courses within easy travel distance. The region offers wonderful visitor attractions - Mont St. Michel, St Malo, Fougeres and Dinan to name a few. Beautiful beaches and sea views are twenty minutes away, and forest walks and cycle paths on our doorstep. The area is famous for sea food and there many good, reasonably priced restaurants in the neighbourhood. Our letting apartment and studio are tastefully furnished with beige leather furniture and equipped to a high standard. A heat pump system to heat the pool has been installed early 2007. The pool can not be heated all year. It is successfully kept at a temperature of 25°C+ when ave. air temps.above 15°C.

Le Clos du Grand Bois is situated in the domain du golf de St Malo at Le Tronchet, twenty minutes south of the ferry terminal. Located in the forest de Mesnil and close to Miraloup lake, Dol De Bretagne is eight Kilometres and Combourg, twelve kilometres away. Le Mont St Michel and the beaches of the bay and St Malo are less than 30 Min drive. Nearby golf courses include Dinard, Pleneuf Val Andre, Les Ormes,Granville, Penguen, Rennes. Great sea food restaurants.

Winter lets (October to end April) are provided with controllable electric convector heating. All lets of 4 or more days are inclusive of bed linen, towels and basic household products.   • The principal letting unit is the upper apartment with two double or twin bedded rooms, sleeping four(4) persons. There are two rollaway/occasional beds, full length but more suitable for young people. That is sleeping 4 to 6 persons including children. Baby cot and chair available. There is, also, a separate studio, not let on its own, which is offered with the main apartment when guest numbers demand. In general, up to six(6) including children would be apartment only, six(6)+ would include the studio. Other arrangements will be happily considered. The studio comprises a ground floor sitting and kitchen area, toilet. Upper bedroom with double and en suite shower room. Access to large decked exterior and pool deck. As we are situated within the golf domain (though not overpowered by it) we would mainly be suited to golf parties or families. A great location to get away from it all, in very relaxing setting in the midst of a golf course. Located only a short distance outside of St Malo, makes it an easy place to get to and an ideal base to explore Brittany. The apartment was very comfortable with all the home comforts. I would recommend this to anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of life in the UK and an excellent venue to anyone considering a golf break. (St Malo Golf Club is exceptional) Thanks to Peter and Rita for looking after us and being a great help us during stay in France.

late august holiday

Lovely property in a very rural setting. Wonderful spot for keen golfers as the house sits between two of the greens.  Since the sleeping arrangements in total consists of three bedrooms each equipped with large and extremely comfortable beds plus two folding single beds the property would probably create difficulties and arguments among any  eight strong group regardless of how it was made up.Cooking and catering arrangements are adequate but only one lavatory and one bathroom being available in the main appartment is not altogether satisfactory. The seperate studio appartment would be fine for a young couple but the stairs would make life difficult for anyone not altogether agile - the bed being upstairsand the lavatory downstairs. Unfortunately the weather was dull for most of our stay and included a fair number of damp, cool or rainy days which limited our use of the excellent pool. The make up of our group also tested the laundry and drying facilities to their limits: a tumble dryer would have been a welcome addition to the washing machine.   The village of Le Tronchet has very little to offer in the way of entertainment or shopping being confined to one small shop and one very gloomy bar; but if you like golf that would not be a drawback. The nearest village with a super market - Plerguer, is only about four kilometeres away but does not seem to possess any eating places much above the level of pizza bars. Having said that the area is rich in small attractive towns that can be reached within a short drive of twenty  kilometres or so where some good small restaurants can be found. The nearest town of any size is St. Malo which is well worth a visit especially for those who do not mind walking in very congested streets, for the old walled town is crammed with tourists. The walk around the walls is not as daunting as it first appears being all on one level once you have managed to get up there.The sea front at Dinard offers a tremendous array of cafes and restaurants all serving sea food - great if you like oysters; but again, lots of tourists. At a slightly longer distance Fougeres is well worth a visit, the main fetures being the moated chateau and the medieval town.

Excellent clean and spacious apartment in a quiet rural french location. All the facilities you would need and more
Very friendly, polite and discrete UK owners live downstairs.
Although set in a quiet location, there is not much within walking distance (except country walks and golf). All restaurants & shops must be driven to. Plenty to do in the local area - good beaches - interesting towns but take a good map or sat Nav - the road directions are poor.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Pet-friendly, Sightseeing

If you want fast living - forget it

However if you enjoy peace,relaxation,and French Country living this is definately the property for you. Having been coming to France for over 20 years we have experienced our fair share of strange. appalling,and excellent gites - this one is definately the latter.
We stayed in the upstairs 2 bed apartment which was very practical but also spacious for its size. Our bedroom, with its generous king sized bed had a small balcony with super views over the garden and golf course complete with table and chairs for the morning croissants or early evening glass of wine.
Peter and Rita were anxious that we were comfortable and happy and the swimming pool cover was always removed ready for our 10 year old son to enjoy his evening swim. We even arrived back one day after a heavy rain shower to find that our washing had been brought in for us.
This is a great area of France to explore and this house is a perfect place to relax. We felt so comfortable and happy that it was very hard to leave.
