Traditional maison de maitre built of stone in a wooded setting with a small river running through the property [which includes two derelict mills]. This was once the master's house to a successful water mill making flour for local crepes and galettes. Fenced In-ground fully tiled swimming pool with a sea-salt system now [2009] has a heat pump for all year round swimming. Measures approx. 6x4 metres with 1.3 metre depth and added square steps. There is badminton/volleyball net and football nets in the grounds. LINEN and Welcome pack included on arrival. The changeover day can be flexible. The grounds have ducks, geese and chickens as pets plus friendly cats. All children friendly! Boat available for use on the small river with parental supervision. This property is not suitable for very elderly or infirm because of steps up the main living accommodation but the back door is on a level with the gardens leading to the pool and patios/barbecue area and many outside seating areas.

Halfway between Ploermel and Josselin, the property is located approx 3 miles from Ploermel in Southern Brittany and roughly halfway between Rennes and Vannes just off the N24. It is one and a half hours from St Malo ferry port and one and a quarter hours from Dinard Airport, forty-five minutes from Rennes airport. 3/4 hours from Caen/Cherbourg and 3 hours from Roscoff. Travelling via the Channel Tunnel will take 6 hours approximately. Discount offered for travel with Brittany Ferries. Markets in Ploermel, Josselin, Vannes. Animal Park near Questembert with kids area. Hotel at Lac au Duc [5 miles] has sauna, beauty therapy, treatment rooms available to non-residents. Lac au Duc also has man made beach and water sports facilities available to all, plus volleyball, table tennis, trampolining. Beaches less than one hour away in the Gulf of Morbihan. Carnac beach and Trinite sur Mer about one and a quarter hour's drive.

Notes: Children adore this beautiful site as there is plenty of freedom for them to explore. Parents of small children must be aware of the proximity of the small river which in the Summer months, is usually shallow enough to walk up! The swimming pool is a safe distance from the house, away from the river on higher ground and is fenced. Playground area near pool consists of swings and seesaw. There are steps up to the front door of the house and a side access on the first floor level leading to a terrace area via the kitchen, washing line, swimming pool area and terrace. There is a large BBQ and many seating areas with umbrellas so furniture need not be dragged around! This property is a must for those with interest in nature and wildlife as the 8 hectare plot and river provide a multitude of both. Bring a tent for the kids to camp out for fun! Or bring your quad bikes! Chickens, ducks, geese and cats and a small dog in the nearby property [not in the house] are all children friendly.

Fishing/Golf/Cycling: There is good walking, cycling and fishing class. A source river - Carp, Chub & Troat in the little river of the house or in surrounding area rivers. Close to Josselin (Chateau) on the Nantes to Brest canal (River L'Oust) and Vannes (walled medieval city) as well as the old town of Ploermel, just 3 miles away. In Ploermel there is also the Lac au Duc with a 9-hole golf course plus sandy beach, water-sports and trampolining. Nearby private Go-Karting Track for adults and children [5 mins]. Hotel at the lake now has sauna and health spa facilities. Close to Route Nationale (N24) and 1.5 hours from St Malo. Bed and breakfast available out of Peak Season and camping (bring your own tent) - prices available on request and dependent on services / dates required. Bike hire can be arranged prior to your arrival on request.

Health/Beauty/Spa Treatment: There is a health spa at the nearby Hotel Le Roi Arthur by the golf course and treatments/sessions can be arranged either by appointment before you arrive or on your arrival. English speaking receptionist. Prices vary from a 2 hr treatment at 126 Euros down to 10 Euros for use of the spa and jacuzzi facilities. A 20 minute manicure costs 29 Euros and a pedicure for 30 minutes costs 32 Euros. Waxing also available. Treatments are available for men too!!! or email me.

Go-karting/Paintball: Only five minutes away in Guillac for Go-Karting. Ask for details. Just fifteen minutes drive to Paintball, just outside Ploermel on the Redon road. Ten-pin Bowling in Ploermel centre, with excellent bar and restaurant. Archery can be arranged nearby on request.

Other Activities: Go-Karting locally and bike hire in Josselin or Ploermel. Archery.
