Situated halfway between St Malo and Dinan, the house is in a peaceful setting on a country lane and is part of a small hamlet of houses with a farm to the rear. It is at least 300 years old and is the middle house in a terrace of three. The house is double fronted and on two floors with three double bedrooms. It is easily recognisable by the loft window, 'brittany' blue fence and shutters. The property benefits from a small garden at the front, a courtyard and a large enclosed garden area at the rear with two sun terraces and a boules area. Inside you will find a large comfortable lounge/dining area and fully fitted kitchen/dining area. The bedrooms are located on the first floor. The village of La Vicomte has a boulangerie/bar tabac and a restaurant/bar. There is children’s play area, football pitch and tennis courts next to the Mairie. A short walk away are the wooded banks of the River Rance and Port Lyvet with its marina, lock and restaurants

The house is very conveniently located for family holidays in a peaceful setting. Just minutes from the house, down rural lanes and woodland, lies the beautiful River Rance for fishing, walking, cycling and appreciation. The historic towns of St Malo and Dinan are nearby for shopping, eating out and the canal side tow path which runs from Port Lyvet to Dinan and beyond (perfect car-free cycling for the children) is only a walk away. The fabulous beach and spa resorts on the Emerald Coast, the lakeside town of Combourg and Mont St Michel are all within half and hours drive. Theme parks, zoos, water parks, forests and lakes are all within easy reach for days out. A visit to Rennes - the capital of Brittany - just 45 minutes drive away, with its Saturday market and medieval town centre is highly recommended.

Horse Riding: There is a superb horse riding school - Les perrieres Stables (tel: 0033 2 99 58 38 00) right on our doorstep.

Nearby Attractions: Our favourite beach resorts include - St Jacut sur Mer - small village with nice beaches and small islands which can be reached by foot at low tide. St Cast - a small seaside resort (wind surfing and sailing) with a good beach. Dinard - an Edwardian seaside resort with wonderful cliff walks and beaches and indoor swimming pool. St Malo - the walled town with great beaches, swimming and good shopping and restaurants, swimming pools and aquarium. St Servan - typical French seaside resort. Cancale - for Oysters. Dol de Bretagne - for the Saturday market. Dinan - for history and shopping - great market on a Thursday morning and restaurants - try the port for riverside eating. Tadon has a craft market every Friday in August and there are numerous local fetes and events to join in the summer. There is a crazy golf facility a short drive away in La Hisse. There are several good restaurants in the locality within walking distance or short drives.

Other information: The house benefits from wonderful French neighbours who are happy to help. Visitors must bring their own bed linen and towels but we can arrange for the house to be cleaned at the end of the stay. We do how ever expect all clients to leave the house in a good clean state.

Other Activities: sight seeing, boat hire, river cruises, boating, canoeing, spa/thermal baths in nearby Dinard and St Malo

Total Relaxation!

We spent a week in June 2006 at this property and loved every moment. As soon as we got to the house we felt totally at home, we both relaxed immediately.

The garden is spacious and many an evening we made use of the boule court, and that record collection is just superb!!!

Dinan is a delightful town, strolls along the river / shops / castle and gardens are a must. We love it so much we make a detour every time we head deep into Brittany to vist relatives.

The location of this property is brilliant, so many places to visit within an hours drive, and really not to far from Calais to drive down - if you come across that way. We had a few days of rain (well this is Brittany!) and always found somewhere of interest to venture out to - in fact we didn't see nearly as much as we'd wanted to.

Loved the bathroom, and the lounge area really was one of the most comfortable settings - wanted to get that huge fire going, but not really called for in the middle of summer!

The market Dol de Bretange on Saturday was just fantastic, and the local amenities enabled us to spend a very contented week in this wonderful house.

Ventured out to the beach too, again, in under an hour some great beaches. This house offers everything, it has a wonderful warm feeling to it; rustic and charming, would totally recommend this property.

Discover Brittany through the 70's

I had a very pleasant vacation in this house with my two daughters who discovered the fantastic 70's music listening the huge 33 Long Playing collection present in the house!

The severe atmosphere of this ancient house is sweeten by some nice furniture coming from 70's and the availability of three gardens (1 on front and the other two on the back) are perfect for open air nights after long days visiting the near north Brittany cost and St.Malo'.

I strongly suggest this house to all family with children (3 bed-rooms are available) looking for the quite atmosphere of ancient Brittany.
