Sanet Suite: Apartment Rental, 2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 6 in La Charité-sur-Loire

My husband, son and I had a great vacation experience in La Charite Sur Loire. The comfortable gite was tastefully renovated to reflect the time period it was built. The view of the 11th century church (a beautiful church, now a world heritage site) from our patio also brought alive the history of the area. Kelly and Byron are a wealth of information about Burgundy and it's history - their hospitality was greatly appreciated. We would recommend staying here for a genuine taste and feel of Burgundy.

We have just returned from a return visit to La Charité, staying in an alternative apartment this time - the Sanet Suite - just to experience something different. Our expectations were high, having very much enjoyed our last visit a couple of years ago to the Lucarne Suite. We were not disappointed: the property was exactly as described and the facilities comprehensive. Its location on La Grande Rue of La Charité made it ideal for exploring the town or strolling (or canoing - great fun!) along the Loire and offered good links to road and rail for trips further afield. The excellent view of Notre Dame from the outside terrace meant that we were able to spend as long as we wanted in complete comfort studying the sculpture and statues from a higher viewpoint.

Kelly and Byron were welcoming and assiduous hosts; nothing was too much trouble. They knew their town and the local area very well indeed and were very generous with their time, answering any questions we had as well as keeping us informed of events in the town during our stay.

Most local restaurants were very good, particularly the Auberge de Seyr, where the service and food were excellent. The shops in the Grande Rue were a delight to visit: the provisions shop just below the accommodation had excellent cheeses (and a very knowledgeable owner) and the owner of the local gift/kitchen shop a few doors down La Grande Rue went out of her way to help find exactly what we wanted. Everybody was so helpful.

We can't recommend this property highly enough and certainly intend to return; it's the perfect place just to relax or to use as a base for visiting chateaux or larger towns such as Bourges (truly beautiful cathedral) or Nevers.

The Sanet Suite exceeded our expectations on all accounts. It was a perfect place for our family of 4 (including 2 teenagers) to come home to after a full day of sightseeing, shopping, and exploring the beautiful surrounding regions of Burgundy and the Loire. The suite is roomy, comfortable, clean, and contains all of the amenities needed to make a vacation run smoothly. It is situated in a very convenient location in the centre of town, close to excellent bakeries, charcuteries, restaurants and great shops. We enjoyed interesting visits to Sancerre, St. Fargeau, the market at Cosne, shopping in Nevers, the beautiful chateau of Chambord, Guedelon, a castle in the making (interesting to our son who will be studying medieval times in school this year), and many other excellent trips. Our hosts, Kelly and Byron, were welcoming and helpful, and were a wealth of information regarding the history of La Charite, and offered excellent suggestions of where to go, what to see, where to eat, etc. We are looking forward to a return visit!
