Antigny-le-Chateau, chateau and hamlet in the commune of Foissy, lies in the beautiful rolling hills of the Cote d'Or, 25 minutes from Beaune, 45 minutes from Dijon and Burgundy's most famous vineyards. The Chateau is one of Burgundy's oldest Baronies, with the property's earliest portions dating from the 11th Century.
The cottage and château are located at the end of a long butte, the site of a Roman encampment. Traces of Gallo-Roman settlements are still visible on the butte. There are lovely walks around the butte, easy bicycle roads and paths and picturesque farms.
The cottage is 7 km from Arnay-le-Duc, where Henri IV (as Henri of Navarre) won his first battle in 1570 in the wars of religion.
Vezelay is an hour away by Autoroute. Fontenay, Flavigny, Chateauneuf, Alesia (where Caesar defeate Vercingetorix) are between 30 minutes and 1 hour away.
