Our spacious gite - “Havre Paisible” (French for peaceful haven) - is a traditional farmhouse nestling serenely in an unspoilt village in the heart of rural Burgundy which has been completely modernized and exceptionally well appointed to ensure a relaxing holiday. A comfortable 5 hour-drive from Calais, Havre Paisible affords the opportunity to visit many parts of this varied region. Relax by your private swimming pool and sip local Burgundy or Chablis wines on your terrace. Take a stroll in the fields which surround the village. Dine outside on your terrace and experience the starlit skies, savour total tranquility and listen to the sound of silence. Drive to a local cave for a degustation followed by lunch at one of the local restaurants. Catch up with your “other” world via the free Wi-Fi internet access. Or simply soak up the sun, read a book and do nothing for a change!

Our village - Gigny - is located between Chatillon-sur-Seine and Chablis in Northern Burgundy. Havre Paisible, the original farmhouse from the 1600s was remodeled with all modern conveniences including 3 bedrooms, 3 modern bathrooms, a washing machine and fully equipped French kitchen. The farmhouse is enclosed in a beautiful courtyard with a heated 5 x 9 meter swimming pool (open May –– September). The garden is compact but designed specifically for relaxation and tranquility. Parents, if you have active children this may not be a suitable property for your holiday. We have called Gigny home for over 5 years and live adjacent to the property. We have designed the gite so that you are assured of the same relaxing and private holiday even if we are present during your stay. We are here to help with any information you may need and to ensure that your stay is as perfect as possible. Our eight-year old Golden Retriever – Buddie – lives here with us and is very popular with our guests.

Off the kitchen is a bathroom (bath with shower and bidet) & next door is a separate WC. •Via the archway enter the dining area, which seats 6 comfortably with tiled floors & beautiful original oak beams, giving a cozy and cottage-like atmosphere. French doors open onto the terrace overlooking the garden and swimming pool. •Off the dining area, on the ground floor, is a modern en-suite bedroom which sleeps 2 (double bed), complete with shower and WC. •From the dining area, follow the wooden staircase up to find: •Sitting room – a cheerful room overlooking the courtyard and swimming pool with seating for 6. •Two further bedrooms can be found upstairs – one on each side of the sitting room: •Bedroom 2 – is the only non en-suite bedroom but is generous in size and includes a private sitting area. •Bedroom 3 – offers two single beds with a modern en-suite bathroom with bath and shower.

An absolutely perfect place to spend a week. Terry and Jacquie are the ultimate hosts going above and beyond to make us confortable in the gite and in their glorious country.
