Farmhouse-cottage, peaceful setting, in heart of Historic Burgundy
'NIGHTINGALES' is set in a courtyard, with adjacent farm buildings & although renovated, retains many original features ( oak beams & flagstone floors). It has a terrace & garden with access to an orchard. Situated in a quiet rural village in lovely area, the house has full gas fired central heating, a wood burning stove and all modern comforts including dishwasher, microwave, freezer and electric cooker. The laundry room is equipped with a washing machine and ironing facilities. Set amongst the rolling hills of the Auxois region of Burgundy, this attractive property is close to many sites of historic interest dating from Roman, medieval and contemporary times. The song of the nightingales can be heard all day and night in May and June hence the cottages name . Sympathetic English owners, used to children, live in the same village. A welcome basket including our own honey will await your arrival. On request we are happy to do some basic shopping for you before your arrival.

Bellenot is a small village of 200 inhabitants situated in the rolling hills of the Auxois. The nearest town, Pouilly en Auxois 2 kilometres away, has everything one needs for everyday use including hotels, restaurants, doctors, banks, dentist, supermarket, bakers, hairdressers, butchers and the oldest ironmongers in France. Nearby is the Canal de Bourgogne, several large lakes for swimming, fishing, & dinghy sailing, a steam railway and 2 golf courses, Thirty minutes away is the Morvan regional park, with its forests, rivers and lakes. Thirty minutes by motorway are the famous towns Beaune and Dijon and the renowned vineyards of the Cote de Beaune (Pommard, Gevrey Chambertin, Volnay etc.) If coming by car, best route is Calais/Troyes A 26 and then by small roads to Bellenot. Alternatively motorway from Calais to Pouilly via Dijon. There is one Eurostar/ TGV train a day from Waterloo via Lille to Dijon where cars may be hired. There are several trains a day from Paris to Dijon.

Notes to the rental rates

Whilst payment in Euros is preferred, we also welcome the equivalent in pounds sterling (cash or cheque), at the prevailing tourist rate of exchange.
A deposit of 130E is required on booking your holiday. This deposit will be refunded should you cancel your holiday no later than six weeks before it was due to start. Your reservation will be confirmed when your deposit has been received by us together with a signed copy of our 'Terms and Conditions of Rental' which will be E-mailed, faxed or posted to you after your booking has been made. The balance of the rental, together with a 130E security 'bond' to cover the cost of gas central heating and any damage/breakages etc., should, unless an other arrangement has been agreed, be received by us no later than three weeks prior to the start of your holiday.

The rental price includes:- electricity and logs for the wood burning stove. Between 30th September and 30th. April a charge will made to cover the cost of central heating -a reading of the gas meter will be made at the start and finish of your holiday. This charge is 'at cost'.

CLEANING - We expect the house to be left clean and in good order on your departure. A charge of 35E will be made should you prefer to leave it to a cleaner.

| Notes: | On request linen and towels can be provided at a cost of 28e. A selection of 'family' bicycles available but other bikes can be hired locally. The bedrooms are on the first floor,so the house is not suitable for those who cannot manage the stairs. There is laundry room equipped with washing machine and ironing facilities. There is also a downstairs WC and washbasin. There is a ping pong table in the adjacent barn which guests can use. |

Golf Information:
There are two golf course nearby, the nearest being 5km from Bellenot at the Chateau de Chailly. This is an eighteen holes high level par 72 course covering 165 acres and is 6,146 meters long. Green fees are between 30 and 55 euros a day. There is a resident professional who is available for lessons. Clubs, balls and trolleys may hired by the day. Use may also be made of the four star hotel facilities including restaurants and tennis courts. Further details from their website, please ask us for link. The second course is 28km [under half an hour away] from Bellenot at Pre Lamy. This is a nine hole par 33 course which is 2,286 meters long and is 'situated among the rolling pastures of the Auxois as they meet the forest of the Morvan'. Green fees are between 10 and 23 euros a day. There is a professional club and trolleys may be hired, No charge is made for use of the practice green. This is a very friendly club and further details are available from their website, ask us for link.

This is the first year this cottage has become available. We were so happy to be the 1st. family to stay in your beautiful house in over 60yrs.
