The village is about midway between two towns, Montbard and Veneray. Both have full shopping facilities and a variety of restaurants. The house is set on a hillside which overlooks the Burgundy Canal and the River Brenne. The village has a a (ruined) 13th century chateau, and a 13th century church with large carved figures inside. Fontenay Abbey, the Forge at Buffon, and Alesia are less than 30 minutes away. There are several interesting chateaux close by, Dijon is 80 km or 40 minutes by train, Vezelay, Auxerre and other major towns are within reasonable driving distance. Semur-en-Auxois, Vitteaux, the Champagne Ardennes region are also not far. The famous Burgundy vineyards around Beaune are about an hour's drive away. There is a TGV service which takes one hour to or from Paris.
