Things to Do: Take one of the ferries to the Lerin Islands for snorkeling and the museum and ancient prison, which held the Man in the Iron Mask. Try scuba lessons on Cap d'Antibes, visit the Hotel du Cap for cocktails, the Archaeological Museum, the Napoleonic Museum, the amusement and marine parks, the Film Festival and the beach clubs at Cannes, Cannes's grand seaside promenade, La Croisette, Grasse and its perfumeries, the art center town of St. Paul de Vence, and the glass-blowing center Biot. Take the helicopter to Monte Carlo; or overnight trips to the snow-capped Maritime Alps, which are only one-and-one-half hours away, for hiking, climbing and rafting, Italy, Aix-en-Provence, the Palace of the Popes in Avignon, St. Remy, the Pont-du-Gard, the Roman ruins in Nimes, and the hilltop towns of the Luberon.
