Cannes holiday apartment

Myself and my family stayed here for a week in March and were delighted with the property. It is a really nice spacious two bed property with everything you would need for your stay in Cannes, it's in a great location just a few mins walk to the beach and the Palais, we found the property to be in spotless condition and I would definetely recommend it to families visiting the area, we will hopefully be back again next year.

The main room of this apartment is very nice, bright, modern and well equiped. It overlooks a small street that comes alive at night with music bars, performers and resturants. We loved it, right in the heart of everything. We didn't mind the noise and music that went on until 3am most nights as we don't have very young children. It was definately the "in" place to be. We were there in Summer, so don't know if it is the same for other months of the year. Great location, wonderful shops, nice beach, very close to everything.
However... the other rooms in the apartment are in need of updating and refurbishment. The bedrooms and bathroom overlook a very dark dirty yard littered with rubbish,pidgeon droppings and cigarette butts. We are non smokers and this was supposed to be a non smoking apartment but you could smell cigarette smoke and there were ashtrays! You are unable to have any windows open due to the exhust fumes from the air conditioning outlets of the resturants and the other apartments below. The bedrooms are very dark, unlike in the pictures. There are no main centre lights, only a bedside lamp. You also need to keep shutters closed most of the time for privacy due to the close vicinity of the other apartments windows around the yard area. There is no wardrobe in one of the bedrooms just a rickety hat and coat stand, my two sons had to live out of their suitcase. Carpet, pillows and top bed covers were old, stained and grubby. Entrance to the apartment is through a pungent damp smelling corridor with peeling plaster walls and paintwork, not as we were lead to believe by the picture of nice modern look entrance with double glass doors. These are to the entrance of a walk way to the beach, which is in the next road.
Having said all this, it is not a bad apartment! Just depends what standard of living you are used to or were expecting! To us, it was advertised as a "luxury" apartment, which wasn't cheap, and from looking at the pictures we expected more, and we were dissapointed.
Owners should take note of our feedback and could easily address the points stated in this review and put them right, it would then be a fab apartment. Cannes is a great place.
