In a quiet square opposite Cannes Midi Beach and yet close to the restaurants and night-life and ten minutes walk round the old harbour to the Palais de Festivals, train and bus stations. (The Airport Express coach runs every half hour so car not essential). The ground floor apartment is separated from the sea front by a small park with children’s playground and Boules Court. It has a sunny balcony overlooking the park and sea and its own large shady courtyard at rear. Light, modern, spacious (83 sq m), air-conditioned, heated and double glazed, the apartment is well equipped and comfortably furnished. Sleeps 4 in comfort, six with a squeeze! Activities

Cannes is a town of festivals, casinos, beach, boat and street life. The Palais des Festival hosts the famous film festival and a range of expositions and conferences. Behind the old port are boule courts and the colourful flower market while the nearby famous Forville market provides fresh regional produce every day. The old Cannes castle dating from the 11th century houses the Museum de la Castre in the old Cannes fishing village, now known as le Souquet. It looks down on the old harbour and the Tour de la Castre is well worth the climb for the view . The palm fringed seafront Boulevard de la Croisette has luxury boutiques, hotels and fine views of La Napoule Bay and the Esterel heights. The old harbour supports diving, fishing and boat trips to the Iles des Lerins, which were once the most powerful religious centres in the South of France. A multitude of restaurants cater for all pockets and English language films are shown. The International Language College is a short walk

Travel

Nice International airport is only 30 minutes away by car, with cheap flights from many UK airports via Go and Easyjet. All main hire car firms represented including EasyRentacar. The apartment is only five minutes walk from the bus station with its frequent (half hour) service to Nice airport. Fifteen minutes walk from the train station with frequent trains along the coast to Marseilles, St Tropez, Antibes, Nice and Monaco. The TGV provides a fast connection to Paris and London. A bus to town and the rail station stops in Square Mistral, 100 metres from the apartment. A car is not essential to move around Cannes but should you want a day or two out of town, a hire company, situated adjacent to the apartment in Square Mistral, will hire a Smart Car.

Autumn and Winter

After the hectic spring and summer months, Cannes offers a different festival every month from October to April: mimosa, music, dance as well as antiques fairs and the regular produce and brocante markets. You can have lunch at a beach restaurant just minutes away from the apartment and soak up the sun under clear blue skies. Traffic is light at this time of the year and shopping along the Rue d'Antibes and La Croisette is great. At weekends, local artists exhibit their work along the Croisette. The nightlife is varied and the majority of the restaurants are open along the beach and surrounding the old port.
