Nice is the cultural capital of the Cote d'Azur. It is beautifully nestled between the southern Alps (ski resorts are only 1h15 drive away) and the breathtaking Baie des Anges. The region is home to Monaco, Cannes, Antibes along the coast and stunning hill top villages.
Nice has it all; beaches, promenades, narrow medieval streets in the old town, restaurants, cafes, markets, shopping and art. It just depends on what you fancy doing. Lazing about and soaking in the warm sun often feels like the best option, but if you want to get out and about and experience the best of the French Riviera, Nice is the place to be.
Carnival in February is legendary. Monaco Grand Prix in May. Jazz festival in August. There is always something happening on the Riviera. An impressive choice of museums including Matisse and Chagall await. Beaches are there all year round to bathe in, play on or just sit on and watch the world go by. There is an abundance of shops and places to eat and drink.
