Located in the chic 'Quartier Musiciens' of Nice, the spacious apartment is on the 3rd floor of a traditional, lovingly-maintained old Nicoise building, accessed by lift or stairs. The apartment is tastefully furnished with a subtle blend of antique furniture & more contemporary items all of which contribute to the very French-style feel of the place. There are two sets of French doors in the big lounge, with shutters which open up onto their own Juliet balconies. The whole apartment is bright & airy, running from the front to the back of the building ('traversant' in French) which means the living accommodation is well ventilated in summer with a cooling flow of air. Step outside & sample many local delights, attractions & amenities: bars, cafés, restaurants, greengrocers, supermarkets, all close by. In fact everything is within walking distance - the Promenade des Anglais and beach (10 mins) and train station (5 mins) where you can travel to Monaco, Menton, Cannes & Juan Les Pins.

I truly love this apartment and it has given me an unbelievable amount of pleasure. I spend a lot of time here with my girlfriend, family and friends and it feels very special from the moment you walk in and open the shutters. It really does make you smile and relax. The apartment is a superb base especially with the train station being so close and most things within walking distance (i.e. old town, beach, restaurants, and shops). It really is very centrally located. It has also been recently updated with the latest Samsung LCD television and DVD player along with a selection of movies and Cd’s.

Additional information about rental rates

  • The rental cost includes linen/towels for two people, water, electric and gas usage.There is an additional charge of 70 euros for cleaning and laundry costs.This can be left for the cleaners on departure from the apartment.
    A 40% non refundable deposit is required when booking to reserve the dates, followed by the balance which is payable 8 weeks before your departure or payment in full if the holiday is within 8 weeks time.
    A ?150 refundable security bond is also required to cover breakages/CDs/DVDs and the safe return of the keys etc.
    A cheque or bank transfer are accepted methods of payment.
    Holiday periods such as Xmas,New Year and events such as the Monaco Grand Prix are normally charged out at peak rates.

Notes: There is a large bedroom with a king size bed. The lounge has 2 new sofas of which one is a large high quality double bed. There is a large wicker screen to give privacy when using the sofa bed. The lounge seats 6 comfortably as well as having a large dining table which seats 6. There is also a dining kitchen. The bathroom is equipped with a shower, sink and bidet and there is a separate toilet. There is plenty of hanging space for clothes, a hairdryer, iron and board, clothes maiden, cafetiere, espresso maker and many more creature comforts. Help yourselves. The apartment now has English Television via Sky.

A great rental property in Nice

We stayed at this property in February, 2006 and I was happy to see it still on the Holiday Rentals site. We are experienced self-catering renters in France and I have to say that this was the nicest apartment we have rented. It is spacious, absolutely clean and has all the necessary amenities for a great stay in Nice. The area is convenient to the gare and to Old Town Nice. As an unexpected bonus, we arrived in Nice during Carnivale Week. We had a great time in Nice, not least because of the great apartment we rented from Kieran. He was easy to deal with and the logistics of the rental went smoothly.

Nice apartment, shame about the hassle

It's a very nice apartment, well equipped with Sky TV, comfortable bed, very airy with the windows open and amazingly clean. Good location in the centre of Nice, easy to reach the beach, the station and the main shops. Very friendly owner.

However, I had to chase for the keys, which only arrived at the last possible moment before I flew out, and then again for my security deposit to be returned, which was subsequently sent (after several reminders) by internet transfer, meaning a wait of yet another few days for it to arrive back into my account. Finally got it back over two weeks after I'd returned. (It's the case that the owner was abroad until a week after I returned, but given that internet transfer - his preferred way to bank - means that this could have been effected from anywhere, and that it was not sent until 4 days after he'd returned home, I didn't find this a very satisfactory approach to customer service).

I wouldn't put off anyone from renting the place, just warn them that the admin is (was in my case) a little laid back and haphazard, to say the least. Be prepared!

I would recommend this apartment to anyone who really wants to experience the elegance of another era. It is approached by the most amazing lift that lacks only one thing - Poirot! The rooms are tastefully furnished (you'll love the beautiful dining table and chairs) and the owners have thought about everything and anything you might possibly need to make your holiday a success. Don't leave without visiting the Blue Beach resstaurant. We visited the apartment for the third time in 2008 and hope to go back again and again and again....

I have used Kieron & Pennys apartment a couple of times now and will shortly be heading back for my third visit. The apartment is chic/spacious & very well located. If you want the ideal location situated in a french residential area then this is the apartment for you! Lots of tour/places information left for you if your unsure of what to see/do/where to eat etc.

Great central location

We really appreciated the central location as we were able to walk practically everywhere in Nice. This apartment is minutes to the train station, local bars, cafes, grocers, internet cafes, pharmacies and lots of other amenities. A leisurely 10 minute walk will bring you to Promenade des Anglais, the beach, great shopping, lots of restaurants and some wonderful attractions & park areas. The apartment was very clean, fully equipped, with everything in good working order and very comfortable. Lots of tourist information and recommendations have been thoughtfully provided. The area of town felt safe and the building is secure. The hosts provided good service and I would definitely recommend this property to friends.

The central location does have it's drawbacks; this is not a quiet secluded neighbourhood. The street is fairly busy so leaving the front windows open isn't recommended unless you are used to the rhythmic beat of a busy city. The bedroom is located at the back of the building which is much quieter so you can leave the window open at night if you like.

Parking would definitely be an issue as both sides of the street were lined with vehicles at all times. However, a car is not necessary with the train station so close by and in France train service is second to none; great schedules, reasonable fares, comfortable and fast. We suggest you keep some coins on hand and use the ticket machines to avoid lines at ticket counters. For a change of pace we recommend taking the bus. The station is within easy walking distance and we paid only 1 Euro each to travel all the way to Menton through Villefranche sur Mer, Beaulieu sur Mer and Monte Carlo - talk about a cheap tour!

We had originally planned our week in Nice to be a stopover, driving from Paris with a rented car. This would have necessitated parking in Nice so we rearranged our trip to start in Nice and didn't rent our car until we left there. We not only saved parking but an additional week's rental. This savings was not outweighed by the airfare to Nice or dropoff fee. If you haven't travelled abroad before, the 2nd floor is really the 3rd in France, gas ranges are common and microwaves are not usually provided. Nice has one of those handy hop-on, hop-off, double-decker bus tours; a great way to get a feel for a city - definitely worth trying for first time visitors.

Food & drink? - well we could find no bad food or wine in Nice or anywhere else France for that matter - enjoy!
