Bright, comfortable apartment in fabulous location in the most elegant section of Nice old town, 50m from Cours Saleya, 150m from the beach. Rue Benoit Bunico was chosen as part of the Vieux Nice rejuvenation in the 1980´s, and the apartment is located on the third floor of a quality, historic building, completly renovated by the city of Nice at that time. The street has become popular with tourists for its small artisan stores & benefits from on-street security cameras. The open marble stairway leads to an apartment benefitting from modernisation such as double glazing, while retaining traditional features such as window shutters. There is a large, walk-in wardrope off of the entrance hall, a living area with modern furnishings, a bedroom with double bed, a separate, fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with separate WC & full bathtub with shower. The apartment is ideal for those looking for a comfortable, safe, budget priced apartment in a perfect central location.

Notes: Although a studio, the sleeping area is separate from the living area & has a 3/4 pull-down blind for some privacy. Ideal for 2 persons, the 36 m2 apartment can accommodate 3, using the sofa bed, though it is not suitable for young children, being 3rd floor with full length windows. The living room also has a bookcase, armchair, TV with outside ariel, portable electric fan, & CD/tape/radio. There is even a mobile phone with French SIM card provided for guests' convenience. The kitchen has a full sized fridge/ freezer, cooker with oven, microwave oven, coffee-maker & a breakfast table with seating for two. An iron & ironing board are provided for guests' use, & there is a self service laundrette 2 minutes walk from the apartment.

Wake to the sound of the bells of the ancient churches, step out of the apartment into the charming old streets & Italianate squares (Place Rosetti, next to the apartment, being one of the most typical), to buy breakfast in one of the wonderful boulangeries next to the apartment.

Cours Saleya: In 2 minutes of leaving the apartment you are standing in Cours Saleya with its famous markets of fruit, flowers & antiques. Cross the Promenade from here & you are on the longest beach on the Cote dÁzur, still only 4 minutes walk from the appartment. Enjoy fine dining amidst the wonderful baroque architecture, and after dinner perhaps take in a performance at the Opera- still only 6 minutes walk from the apartment. Nice is also the cultural capital of the Cote dÀzure with opera & theatre as well as many museums dedicated to the artists who were drawn here. For evening entertainment, there is also the casino, as well as numerous outdoor bars, beach parties, nightclubs- all literally on your doorstep from Benoit Bunico.

What did you like?
Sheer accessibility of all facilities in the area.
We absolutely did not
need a car- wonderful! and restaurants of all prices
on the doorstep. It was
perfect for our needs- to be able to cater for
ourselves if we wanted to and
just relax or visit seaside shops museums etc
whenever we felt inclined. The
appartment was very well equipped and comfortable.
NO complaints whatsoever!
We have rarely had a holiday which was so much in
the heart of things with
such a variety of things to do.

The description of the apartment's location, layout, facilities etc was completely accurate. The arrangements for collecting the keys and meeting the agent were good. The property was very clean and well maintained. No cleaning service, but this was reflected in the charge compared to other apartments we considered. It was certainly no hardship to clean round before we left. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. A 4th floor apartment with no lift, but easily done (sometimes with a pause on the third floor) even for us oldies. It was briefly a bit confusing on our arrival that the apartment building has the same street number as the bar just a bit further down the road.
The owner replied to our emails promptly and the communication was good. We were very pleased that we chose to stay in Nice Old Town, there is such a buzz that goes on until the early hours and the lively atmosphere is great. This of course means that the nights can get noisy, but you just have to shut the windows to shut out the noise, although it can get very hot (late August/early Sept)with the windows closed. Nice is such a great combination of city and beach and it is so easy to get to everywhere from the apartment. Public transport is good and cheap including the bus from the airport to the Gare Routiere (bus station). The tourist bus is a good way to get your bearings and there are stop offs at the Musee Matisse, the Musee Chagall and the Russian Cathedral. It's also easy to get public transport to these places. It's great to sit at one of the numerous bars to people watch. We liked the Bar Shapko and the Distilleries Ideale in our road. The Place Massena is within easy walking distance. The Bay Cafe was a good place to watch the lighted sculptures on the Place Massena before moving on to watch at the various street entertainers there. We ate well at the Irish Bar on Cours Saleya and other restaurants (names forgotten) including the open air socca place in the old town. The take away pizzas from the place next door to the flat are good. There is a Monoprix nearby, but it's nicer to buy your food at the Cours Saleya market and there is little epicerie at the end of the road. The beach is perfect - just a short and colourful walk from the apartment. It's a pebble beach so we would recommend bringing some beach shoes as it can be quite difficult getting in and out of the sea without them. Nice is a great place for a holiday and this apartment was ideal for us.

Great place to stay

We had a really excellent time staying in this apartment. It really was in a brilliant area and so close to everything -beach, restaurants, bars, shops and also in the heart of the old town. The flat was great for the two of us and spotlessly clean (VIP!). It had everything you could have needed and we were not disturbed by noise at all even though it was in a busy area. We just loved being there. Don't go expecting 5 star quality - you are not paying for that but we would happily have stayed for longer if we had been able to and I am quite fussy. It was very comfortable and very well equipped. I could go on but you ought to go and see for yourselves. The only downside was that you had to wait in the first morning for a check by the letting agents and also pay for the flat. You could have changed the appointment but we decided to have a leisurely morning anyway.
There was a lot of information in the flat which was great.
We had some great meals out - loved Le Grand Bleu in Cours Saleya. it had excellent fish (a bit pricey but worth it) We enjoyed our morning coffee at La civette du cour, again in Cours Saleya and to die for ice-cream at Fennochio's, just round the corner. 96 flavours to chose from. We had lovely bread, croissants etc from La Fourgessarie just down the road. La Cours Saleya was a treat in itself, the daily fruit and veg, flowers and the bric a brac.
We took a bus to St Paul de Vence - an hours bus trip cost 1 euro each - yes you did read that right. Unbelievable value. It was easy to get from the airport to the flat because of the express bus - again just 3 euros each. We did the touristy thing and went on the tour bus which was good. We visited the Chagall museum which was a treat. We had a lovely lunch in the cafe.
We enjoyed the castle and its views......I could go on. Just writing this makes me wish I was there now.

Perfect apartment, Perfect Location

This is a great find...a lovely apartment right in the heart of the old town of Nice.

Perfect location, right in the heart of everything, with plenty bars and restaurants, churches, markets on the doorstep. Ideal, either as a base for exploring the Riveria (tram and bus station only a few minutes walk), or to sample the atmosphere of Nice, with the wonderful Cours Saleya market just around the corner, and a few minutes walk to the promenade and beach.

The apartment was really comfortable, clean and well equipped with everything you might need. Great pre-arrival communication, the apartment was really easy to find, and the local contact was really helpful, and a great source of information. Getting there couldn't be easier - regular buses from the airport take you right to the terminal stop, just across the road from the apartment.

Definitely recommended, and great value for money. Hope to go again soon, and would definitely return to the same apartment.
