Two weeks of wonderful weather, food, wine, people

This apartment is right in the centre of the old town of Nice, with its tall, dark alleyways with geraniums hanging up amongst the washing dangling on sticks, much like it is in the Far East.
The atmosphere is wonderful. Noisy, very busy and full of people with their designer dogs, large and small. The people are fascinating and are of all races, colours, sizes and ages. Although there is an all pervading whiff it is usually food smells, but the occasional drain is pretty high this just adds to the atmosphere.
The people of Nice are friendly, relaxed and really like it if you have a go with your French. We were mostly well treated and not ripped off although it is wise to be cautious.
The Flower Market is wonderful. Lots of beautiful flowers, herbs, spices, cheeses and breads in the daytime and jewellery, paintings, leather goods etc. The Monday antique market is full of beautiful monographed linen, lots of mirrors. Well worth a look.
The buses are excellent and cost only 1 Euro to Menton along the coast road, Vence a ville perche, Cannes - horrible but essentail.
The Bay of Angels is spectacular by night and very busy by day. Walk to the top of the hill, The Corner Where the Wind Blows Your Hat Off and listen to waves breaking and look at the moon and the planes landing at the airports.
The public buildings are spectacular, all the churches are worth a visit, even if it is just to get out of the midday sun.
The apartment is homely. Well furnished with lovely pictures, an excellent book, music and video collection.
The balcony is small but is a little sun trap - be sure to keep the plants well watered.
The maid is easily contactable and comes in once a week.
Wonderful holiday. Great fun and lots to do.
