Nice holiday apartment: Vieux Nice (Old Town)

After reading the great reviews we were quite optimistic about our stay in "studio 2", however, it was not quite what we had expected when we arrived.

While there were many positives to the apartment, such as the friendly owner (great about emailing & staying in contact, very accomodating, etc.) and the location of the apartment - right in the heart of the old town, fantastic & lively neighborhood, within walking distance to everything... there were quite a few negatives as well.

Upon arrival the apartment was dirty, with dirty sheets, old towels, rotten food in kitchen, etc. The owner assured us after our stay that it had simply been a problem with the cleaning staff.. but that didn't help the fact that we had to spend the first 2 hours of our vacation cleaning up the place to get it to be acceptable. Also, none of the 3 scooters were in working order while we were there, as had been advertised. And unfortunately, the method of picking up the keys did not work, as they keys were not there - which made us delayed in getting into the building by over 1 hour in the middle of the night, waiting outside until another resident of the building happened to come home to let us in.

Overall, not the most ideal experience. However, the location and the price definitely can't be beat for the budget traveler (and those who don't mind a 5th floor walk-up). We ended up having a great week staying there, anyway, even with all the negative points. Caveat Emptor, as they say!

Very clean & well maintained as just recently developed.
Owner very helpful.
Scooter was a great bonus allowed us to explore other towns on the cote d'azur.
Just be prepared for the stair.

Excellent, unbeatable location, right in the old town and close to the beach. Scooter is perfect to explore the coast. A few points to note is the large number of stairs, the noise at nights/early morning (you are in a bustling part of town!), bring your own toilet paper and towels (we got half a roll for a week, and only got 1 towel and 1 hand towel) and there are no laundry facilities in the studio. Overall, we loved the place and would recommend you stay!
