Central Nice holiday apartment "La Barchetta" in Nice Centre

We have had a wonderful week staying in La Barchetta. The apartment is exactly as it looks in the photographs and is beautiful and stylishly furnished and a pleasure to be in. All the facilities that might be needed have been provided and the kitchen is especially well-equipped for the preparation of different types of meals. We found it so pleasant that we bought most of our dinners at the wide range of local restaurants as take-ways and brought them back to have on the balcony, along with out own choice of wine. The local grocery was well stocked and very convenient, and the bakeries and fruit sellers provided excellent fresh bread and fruit. The flat is exceptionally well-located. In particular it is just two minutes from the Promenade des Anglais and the sea front where we went every night to watch the moon on the waters and savour the very lively atmosphere. The flat is situated in a lovely part of Nice where there is a variety of shops with intriguing and elegant items on display. It is also only a 15-20 minute walk to Massena Square and the old town and its markets. There are parks and gardens nearby which contain a wonderful variety of plants and offer cool shade and rest. We made frequent use of the public transport and thus saw most of the sights of Nice. We also went by bus to towns such as Monte Carlo and Antibes for one euro per journey.

The flat was very clear, the block was quiet, the two lifts worked well, and we found the neighbours very friendly. Best of all were Jane and Siamak who so kindly provided a really helpful welcome ensuring that we knew where to get what we needed and explained all the appliances and anything else we needed to know. Their interest in ensuring our comfort was much greater than in any other holiday property we have stayed in. Altogether it was a fantastic holiday.

From the moment the friendly and helpful owners met us at the airport we knew we'd made the right choice. The flat is truly superb! It is clearly lovingly cared for, the décor is very stylish but user-friendly. The kitchen is brilliantly well equipped by anyone's standards (well unless you work in a restaurant I suppose), there was even a tray to make cup cakes if we'd so desired. As we were staying for two weeks we ate in every other night, or rather we dined alfresco on the full length terrace sipping wine into the dark hours. I was able to prepare any meal I chose, including using the excellent electric bbq - a new one on me. The bed was very comfortable and lying in bed with the French doors open sipping coffee in the morning sunshine was delightful.

The apartment is on the second floor with two lifts and a staircase. It's location is perfect. Our favourite cocktail beach bar was about two minutes stroll away, alongside the very accessible public beach we used every day. This part of Nice is very flat so if you struggle with hills, you'd love this area. The neighbours in the block were quiet and friendly and the area felt safe and secure. Everything you could need is within walking distance.

This was our second wedding anniversary, so we had high expectations and they were all met.

We'll be back, that's for sure.

I would Like to say how impressive this apartment is. I had a warm welcome from Jane and Siamak showing me around the spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished apartment. They were so helpful pointing out where the , very local Bakers and Supermarket were and also suggesting local trips and amenities. The apartment is so near to the seafront for pleasant strollling along and nearby restaurants. The Bus to Monte Carlo for 1 euro with beautiful coastal views was delightful. Near the apartment is the Tourist Information Office who spoke English and were most helpful. Their information enabled me to take the bus to the Matisse and Chagall Museums.I have no hesitation in recommending this apartment, which is confirmed by the bookings!
