This 1 bedroom apartment is on the first floor of Villa St Remi, Avenue Gallieni. You enter by a bright and wide entrance-hall and stairs. The lounge is spacious and airy with high ceilings and two full length French windows which open onto the terrace. There is an 'American style' all electric kitchen tucked away at one end. The large terrace facing south-east, catches the sun until early afternoon, is furnished with wicker chairs and foot rests and a gas barbecue. The bedroom opens onto this terrace through a French window with a breathtaking view of the Bay and Cap Ferat from the comfort of the bed. The tiled bathroom has an attractive view of the hills behind Villefranche. The apartment which is decorated in the 'Belle Époque' style is furnished with quality anticque pieces, a very comfortable sofa, an arm chair and two chairs. The LCD TV has a Sky box and DVD / CD player. The attractive light fittings are controlled by dimmers. It has air conditioning and electric heating.

Notes to the rental rates

A deposit of 25% is required on making the booking, the balance to be paid one month before arrival. On receipt of the deposit the renter will get a rental agreement. On receipt of the balance directions to the apartment and contact details for meeting the apartment manager will be forwarded. The manager will have the keys and introduce the renter to the apartment.
The rental rate includes provision of bed linen, towels, soaps and electricity. Cleaning and laundry on vacating the apartment is an additional €80, which is payable together with a security payment of €500 to the apartment manager on collection of the keys. This security deposit will be refunded on return of the keys subject to no damage to the property, the fixtures or fittings. If convenient the deposit can be held in any of the major currencies.
Changeover is Saturday to Saturday. As change over is tight in the high season, access to the apartment will be 3pm or later on arrival, and departure will be before 10am.

| Notes: | This is one of five exclusive apartments created in a recent renovation of the Villa St. Remi, whose elevated location in the old town overlooking the bell tower of St Michaels Byzantine church affords stunning views of entire bay. It is centrally located in the residential quarter of the old town, five minuets walk to the shops . Allow 15 minuets to the railway station. A car is not necessary. If you do require a car, parking is available 100m from the apartment in a public car park where you pay a nominal charge from 8am to 6pm. The lounge is furnished with a glass top dining table and two chairs in wrought iron. The kitchen has all new equipment including a four ring electric hob and self cleaning oven, electric coffee maker and toaster and a full range of new cooking utensils. For Unwinding
You could stroll down the cobbled meandering alleys, which open onto the colourful port, noted for its variety of restaurants, artists and promenading friends. Return later and enjoy a beach barbecue watching the sun descend in an amber glow over Fort du Mont Alban. Or how about fresh fish, daily, on the harbour just five minutes away. The Citadel, built by the Dukes of Savoy houses a number of museums and art galleries together with an open air theatre/cinema. Jardin I’Octroi is the location for regular antique markets and the regular weekly food market. Just 10 mins. by bus and you can spend an afternoon enjoying the street atmosphere of Nice with its boutiques, museums, and Promenade. Take a 'day trip' or a 'night at the opera' in the principality of Monaco 20 mins. to the east. The apartment allows you to enjoy the best of what the Mediterranean has to offer, a perfect combination of modern luxury and relaxation in the heart of a centuries old village on the Cote d’Azur.
For the Energetic
There are a multitude of sea sports in the area including a diving school and sailing school in Villefranche. There is fishing from the rocks or deep sea fishing, canoeing, water skiing, snorkelling, and sailing. For hill walkers there numerous routes along the coast line, and in the hills around Eze and Menton, all accessible from the bus route to Menton. For the more energetic there are higher walks in the Roya valley region which is an hours train journey from Nice, and up the Var valley to Haut Provence which is a one hour car trip from Nice. There is golf in the area of La Trobe near Monaco. North western Italy and Alpine ski resorts are also no more than 1.5 hours away. Garden Trips
The unique micro climate has facilitated the development of world renowned gardens which are open to the public such as Villa & Jardin Ephrussi de Rothschild on Cap Ferrat, and Villa & Jardin Kerylos in Beaulieu sur Mer, both within walking distance. There are additional renowned gardens in the area of Menton.

The apartment was every bit as lovely as it looks on the website. My husband and I spent two wonderful weeks at La Belle Epoque. We loved sitting on the balcony, looking out on the bay of Villefranche-sur-mer and Cap Ferrat. The morning sun was glorious! The apartment was well-equipped (and Shelley was great at explaining how to make the appliances work!). The location is fantastic! You can walk to the old town, the waterfront, the shops and restaurants, the train station, the bus stop, Institut de Francais...everywhere you will want to go is an easy walk!
I recommend taking the train to Menton, the last town before Italy, and to Le Musee Oceanographique in Monaco. It's also an easy train ride to Cannes. The bus is only one euro and goes into Nice regularly, as well as to Monaco. If you've never been to Eze Village, that's a must-see. If you take the bus, get it on the Moyenne Corniche; otherwise, you'll end up in Eze at the bottom of the hill. We climbed up to Fort Mont Alban, and the views were spectacular! It's a nice climb (if you go up to the Moyenne Corniche, there's a path that begins there). The views to the east are of Villefranche-sur-mer, and to the west you look down on Nice and the harbor there.
One of our favorite restaurants was Au Clair Obscur on the Rue Obscur in the old part of the city (Patrice, the chef/owner, is a fabulous chef, and made us feel very welcome!). I think we tried every restaurant at least once, and they were all great! If you turn right out of the apartment, go down and around the street, you'll find a great little restaurant on your right that makes fantastic pizzas, and just beyond that a great little cafe where you can get newspapers, etc. Very friendly people that work there! The Welcome Hotel, on the waterfront, has a great bar. The drinks are a little more expensive here, but the snacks that come with the drinks are a bonus, and it's a great place to sit and watch the world go by. There's a wonderful boulangerie just up the street, across from the tourism office, next door to a green grocer. Just past the green grocer, and down the steps on your left is a SPAR supermarket and a dry cleaner. One last tip: If you don't speak French, buy a phrase book and at least learn the most important words (please and thank-you are tops). A little French goes a long way.
I highly recommend this apartment, and Villefranche-sur-mer is one of the loveliest spots on the French Riviera.
