L´Orangeraie is a recently restored, simple and comfortable 17th century stone house, in the medieval village of Haut de Cagnes. It offers the quietness of a lovely garden and a roof terrace, both with a stunning view to the sea and the medieval surrounding. The house and garden offer the pleasure of sunshine all day long. The 90 m2 house is divided into two parts. In the main house, large glass doors open from the living room to the wonderful garden, with a palm tree and orange trees. This delightful room, with a modern, closed fireplace, is furnished with a dining-table, and a high quality sofa that can sleep one. The fully equipped kitchen is also on the ground floor. On the next floor, there are two bedrooms. The main one, furnished with two single beds that can form a double bed, opens to the roof terrace. Next to it is an open bedroom, with a single bed and a pull-out bed. The third bedroom, with a full bathroom next to it, is in a separate building, only a few steps away.

Nearest Beach: beach at 1.0 Kilometres
Coming to the village of Haut de Cagnes is like walking back a couple of hundred years in time. The castle dates from the 13th century, and so do some of the oldest houses. Unlike many other villages, there are no tourist shops. Instead, there are around 15 restaurants. Two of them have been awarded a star in the Michelin Guide. There is also a jazz club. From Haut de Cagnes, you are close to everything. There are buses to Nice, Antibes, Cannes, Grasse, St Paul and Vence. The beach is a 5 minutes drive, and a 20 minutes walk away.

A Wonderful Little Spot

I stayed at L'Orangeraie in spring of 2008. A charming little spot in a very convenient location. I am a chef and really enjoyed taking the novetta down to the local market every morning to shop for our daily meals. Fantastic local market and lovely pastry shops. The kitchen is well appointed and the dining room can accomodate a large party.
The beds where very comfortable and all ammenities where extremely accomodating. The location is good, although you must secure a parking spot at the local parking garage (a short walk up the hill).
Great views and a lovely shared living space. If in the area I would most certainly rent this home again.
Owner's Response: Going on the little shuttle bus - the "navette" - is an experience in itself, isn´t it? It´s the perfect opportunity to get to know the locals. Sure, on the way down, the steep street can be a bit breathtaking - but so is the view!
