Leisure Activities:
Check out the Tourist Information Offices in Mandelieu. They offer a great source of local knowledge and information on all leisure and cultural activities taking place in the area during your stay.
Mandelieu-La Napoule is a popular seaside destination and is a particular favourite for those interested in sailing and water sports, such as water skiing, diving, fishing etc. The town has been awarded the 'France Station Nautique' for the quality of its sailing amenities.
Other leisure activities include walking, mountain biking and horse riding - taking advantage of the many miles of tracks and footpaths through unspoilt mountain landscapes and forests. Paths leading directly into the forest of Le Grand Duc are accessible from the Domain.
Family Days Out:
Apart from the local, family friendly beaches, there are lots of things to discover just a short drive away. Antibes boasts a selection of parks, including Marine land (killer whales, dolphins and even sharks!), Aqua splash (huge pool, wave pool, 600m of slides etc), Adventure Golf (mini golf set amidst grottos and dinosaurs) and La Ferme du Far West (life on a wild west farm, including shows, pony rides, obstacle course etc). Further down the coast, there is a Zoo at St Jean Cap Ferrat.
Closer to home, the Barbossi Estate makes a great day out for all the family. There is a children's play area, mini zoo, horse riding and tennis courts. The estate also produces its own local 'vin du pays'.
Even the largest towns provide something for everyone. In Nice, the Chateau provides some welcome shade, play areas and panoramic views along the coast. In the Old Town, make a detour for the best ice cream on the Riviera - Fenocchio, at Place Rossetti - can't be beaten!
Golf:
On the Cote d’Azur, you are guaranteed to be able to play golf all year round, on a variety of terrains, with courses suitable for all levels. There are 19 golf courses to choose from, all within an hour’s drive. Mandelieu-La Napoule is the premier golfing destination on the Cote d’Azur, boasting two fabulous courses, the Old Course (the oldest course on the coast), inaugurated in 1891 as well as Riviera Golf, opened a century later, in 1991. The Old Course has both an 18 (5749m, par 71) and 9 (2409m, par 33) hole course. Set amidst beautiful parasol pines, this course is described as a “sheer delight for all golf enthusiasts”. Riviera golf (5513m, par 71) is a very technical course, in a lovely location with views towards the Esterel Massif. Both courses have excellent club houses with good food. Just 10 minutes away in Mougins, (a location not to be missed), are two further great courses – Royal Mougins (home of the Cannes Open) and Cannes Mougins Golf Country Club. Other courses include Opio-Valbonne, Saint Donat (near Grasse) and Biot. If you want to combine your technical skills with spectacular views, then visit one of the prettiest courses on the Riviera, Monte Carlo Golf Club in La Turbie. Most of the clubs on the Riviera offer either individual or group lessons, at all levels.
