Fun for all the family:
Villa Blue Horizon is a 10 minute walk to Marineland which is a great family day out. Marineland is famous for its spectacular dolphin and killer whale shows. The park opened in 1970 and many of the dolphins you see performing were born here. There is a strong emphasis on providing an excellent environment for all their sea creatures. In addition to Marineland there is Aqua -Splash, Adventure Golf, La Jungle des Papillons, La Petite Ferme and Antibesland. So you can find something here to keep the whole family happy. Other interesting things to do include the Zoo de Cap Ferrat and Le Chemin de Fer de Provence which is an excellent way to see the countryside as the train rattles up the Var valley close to the Gorges du Verdon. Also consider Parc Floral Phoenix on the west side of Nice, the glass-bottomed boat from which you can spot not only spectacular fish but stunning real estate around Cap d'Antibes and simple 'bucket and spade' play on the many beautiful beaches along the Riviera.
Ski:
With the closest downhill station only 88km north of Nice, it is easy to see how the Cote d'Azur lives up to its promise that you can ski in the morning and swim in the sea in the afternoon. Fifteen ski stations, including international resorts Isola 2000 and Auron, lie in the Mercantour National Park close to its border with Italy. Generally, in french resoirts children can take lessons from the age of 5. Nonskiers can toboggan, ice-skate, take sleigh rides, hire snow shoes and just enjoy being in the snowy mountains.
Golf:
There are over a dozen excellent golf courses within a half hour drive from the villa. To wet your appetite, a few are mentioned here:
Biot Golf Course is open throughout the year, this 18-hole par 67 course suits golfers of all skill-levels.
Cannes - Mougins Country Club is an English style course offering variety in water hazards, forests and open fairways.
Club Med Opio Sports centre has a 9-hole course, driving range, putting green and practice bunker. Lessons available for all golfers. Also a gym, tennis and archery facilities swimming pools, saunas and special children's facilities.
Golf de Nice Cote d' Azur is a nine-hole course and driving range for beginners and those with experience. Grande Bastide Golf Course is a new course built in 1990 in the region of Opio, it is 18 Hole 72 par and is open all year with a Pro-shop.
Royal Mougins Golf Club is an Internationally recognised course, open throughout the year. 18-hole 71 par, with driving range and restaurant.
