Villa La Folie stands high above Cannes, with spectacular views of sea and mountain. The accommodation sleeps 10 people, and comprises five bedroom, three bathrooms, lounge with fireplace, dining room and kitchen. Facilities include Flat Screen LCD TV, Satellite Channels (French & SKY), DVD, PC with Internet access, and Wi-Fi. The kitchen is equipped with oven, hob, fridge, freezer, ice maker and microwave. There is an apartment with large double bedroom room, lounge/diner, kitchen and bathroom. Outside is an excellent barbecue, dining table for 10 and heated swimming pool. The terraced garden is totally private with various fruit trees - pears, apples, oranges, lemons, peaches, plums, apricots, grapes and olives. The centre of Cannes and the beach are just 10 minutes away. The villa is actually situated in Le Cannet a medieval town with excellent restaurants, markets and concerts - just a few minutes walk down the steps from the house.

Located on the Cote d'Azur, halfway between Nice and St Tropez, Cannes is the most beautiful and one of the most popular resorts of the Riviera. Its wonderful Mediterranean climate provides the ideal setting for a great vacation holiday all the year round. Monte Carlo 50 km, Menton and the Italian border 60 km.

TV, Tours and Ski Resorts: TV: The lounge TV has both French Satellite (Canal Satellite) and UK Satellite (SKY, BBC ITV and more). Tours : The Lerin Islands (15 minutes/11€ ) by boat. Ventimillia (Italy) is less than an hour. Grasse, Monaco, St Tropez and more. Ski Resorts: Isola 2000, Valberg are an hour or so away. This offers the possibility of a dip in the Med before skiing in the afternoon.

Cannes: Cannes is quite a small town, but it is a town of many faces. Indeed, the centre itself presents three very different landscapes – the prestigious seaside promenade, La Croisette, the lively town centre overflowing with boutiques, and the picturesque old port and Suquet hill which make up the old town. In the same style as Le Suquet, but 4km or so north of the town, Le Cannet is a delightful little village of narrow, winding streets and old houses belonging to the town’s suburbs. Also bordering the town but this time to the east, La Californie-Super Cannes is a lush, green haven sheltering luxury villas. On the western side, the suburbs engulf Cannes La Bocca and heading south, you’ll reach two green gems afloat in the sea – just 1km from Cannes’ shores, Iles Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat attract thousands of visitors every year.

An amazing villa, our best holiday ever!

I spent a relaxing week in the villa with a few friends, and have to say that it was one of the most decadent holiday excursions we have ever experienced. Upon arriving at the villa, we were breathless with wonder at the beauty of the place. The pictures given really do not do it justice, the house and pool are so much bigger, and the view over the Cannes seafront is so much more beautiful, than a simple photograph can really capture.

The first night was spent relaxing in the outdoor lighted, heated swimming pool, with a few drinks, before eating some fresh meat off the barbeque. The perfect way to end a great evening. We settled down to bed and each room was tidy and prepared perfectly for our stay.

We visited the surrounding village Le Cannet the next day and used our somewhat basic french to order some fresh bread and pastries from the local boulangerie. Everything was exquisite, the french certainly know how to bake!

We went to the beach and the islands off of Cannes on the next few days and these trips were great. On the Île Sainte-Marguerite we saw where the 'Man In The Iron Mask' was held captive and you can alo indulge in diving and many other water sports, if this takes your fancy.

Even though there is so much to explore in the day, at night there are plenty of places to go out and enjoy the Cannes club and bar atmospheres, that mean you will never have a dull moment. The best club we visited was called 'Chokko's.' Though I must admit, we struggled to tear ourselves away from the luxury of the villa at times to get out!

After wandering around Cannes in the heat, there is nothing better than coming back to Villa La Folie and lounging in the sun topping up your tan, having a swim, or sipping cocktails in the pool. Needless to say we tried to fit as much of all 3 in as possible.

There are plenty of places to dine out in the surrounding area, even though the facilities were so good in the house that we only ended up dining out one day in five, which saved us a lot of money! We settled on Le Coin Gourmet in Le Cannet, and enjoyed a sumptuous 3 course banquet. I would recommend this place to anyone interested in great food.

I have never had a more pleasant holiday experience before and I think this is really down to the villa in which we stayed. If you are looking for the perfect combination of being able to unwind or entertain yourselves in equal measure, this is the perfect place. If I were to define paradise in 3 words

Beautiful villa overlooking Cannes as in the photos. Very spacious and has everything you need for a great holiday. Particularly suitable if you are going to cater for yourself and are happy by the pool.

Internet which was promised wasn`t working all week despite many protests on our part as it was needed for work. As a result had to pay alot of data roaming charges.
Cleaners very expesnive at €30/hr and if you want a chef it will cost €100/person not including wine.

Would be alot more enjoyable without these excessive fees we thought. When you pay that much for a villa it`s not too much to expect a few basics catered for.
Owner's Response: This villa is advertised as self catering and does not offer a residential chef and daily maid as the guest expected. Consequently we neither provided a chef nor charged for one. There is a pizza delivery service for a few euros which may have suited the guest’s budget. Cleaning, before, after and weekly, is included in the rate, however this guest requested a cleaner after one day’s occupancy and paid the going rate directly to the cleaner - locally and without the owner’s knowledge or involvement. The internet was subsequently fixed but required a visit by France Telecom.

A Wonderful Riviera Villa

We have stayed at Villa La Folie twice (couldn't wait to return..!) and really enjoyed a wonderful stay on both occasions.

The villa is beautifully situated with lovely views of the sea , Le Cannet and the hills - you can relax for hours looking at them with a cold Frizzante on the terrace and not a thought in your head. We certainly chilled out very quickly after leaving our hectic and demanding jobs behind in the UK. Everything was as it should have been: well-appointed and clean, with lots of thoughtful touches by the owner, who was very helpful.

Whilst the villa is on the side of a hill (so a bit of a steep driveway - an underpowered car full of adults and luggage wouldn't be advisable!), it is very private, which was a real plus during our stay. The pool is sparklingly clear, warm and irresistable, though the super-efficient safety alarm needs to be respected and disarmed before you jump in...a lesson learnt the hard way. Still, safety matters, especially with children.

Locally, there's a quaint little town at the bottom of a large number of steps where you can get all the basics: bread, food, wine - is there anything else...? and more. We ate locally most of the time, and well - the owner's list was really useful. There are some good walks around Le Cannet and easy access to the sea, the Maritme Alps, Nice and even Italy's not that far - we were there in over an hour, lunched, walked, shopped and back by the evening.

This is a villa we would (and will) happily go back to, with so much more we want to do and so little we need to.
