Further details for this holiday villa rental in Eze, France

Eze on the sea - Low road cliff: Jealously protected by two hills, in the east by Balzan Castle, in the west by the Madrid Castle, Eze on the sea is well known for its calm and quiet atmosphere.

Sheltered from the swell by the headland of Saint Jean Cap Ferrat, Eze has a microclimate favourable to a luxuriant Mediterranean vegetation.

Banana trees, date palms and especially citrus fruits embellish the orchards among which the famous small tangerine of Eze.

Shaded beaches and pinewood go down to the sea.

If you enjoy sports, you will discover a variety of small paths and stairs. Two of them join the medieval city situated on the middle road cliff :

The Savaric path offers a beautiful sight seeing on the sea. A part of the Nietzsche path crosses the shaded small valley.

Eze Village, the eagle nest : Perched on its rocky peak up to 400 m above the sea, magic place in the azure, Eze seduces. The atmosphere is authentic and Eze has kept the traditions even now that it has become an international tourist site.

Its history is typified in its topography. Occupied from the end of the bronze period, the eagle nest has been fit up by the Celto Ligurian, then reorganised by Romans, Lombards in 578 and Saracens in 900. Part of the earldom of Nice and 'Provence' until 1388, Eze went under the authority of the count of Savoy. Eze suffered French invasions from 6th century to 18th century. In 1792, before the creation of the Alpes Maritimes, Eze was a part of Monaco district, and was united to France in 1860.

Eze charms all visitors: Georges Sand described 'the ruins of Eze, planted on a cone of rocks, with a typical village as a sugar loaf, stop the people. It is the most beautiful panorama of the road, the most complete and wonderfully composed'.

Frederic Nietzsche took the path from the station at Eze on the Sea to the village and composed the draught of his 'third Zarathoustra' on his way to this 'marvelous Moorish village called Eza built in between rocks'.

Oher personalities stayed a few times in Eze. the Prince Guillaume from Sweden, the imperial Altesse Anastasie Michailowna from Russia, Prince Stragonov, the president of the French republic Raymond Poincaré...

Princess Antoinette Grimaldi, the sister of Prince Rainier of Monaco is living in Eze for many years. One of the most famous philosopher, Maurice Blanchot, as well as the members of the rock group U2 have a vacancy residence.

Golf:

Several nearby top-hole sea view courses where the greens under your feet meet the Mediterranean blue of your sights.

MONTE CARLO GOLF CLUB : an 18 hole, 6000 yard par 71, W. Parker designed course perched 2500 feet above the bay lets you admire the principality and its bay from a vantage point.

GRASSE COUNTRY CLUB : 18 holes on a 6100 yard par 72 course offer splendid views of Cannes Bay below. The sporting amongst you will appreciate the exclusivity of its 17th century private hunting grounds setting designed by J.P. Fourez

RIVIERA GOLF CLUB : a challenging 18 hole 6000 yard par 72 R.Trent Jones JR designed course for the seasoned player. Set in magnificently landscaped 140 acre park dominated by Esterel mountains and within a drivers strike from Cannes Bay.

We rented the top villa for 2 weeks, The weather was excellent , and the villa was just beautiful. We had a car so it was a great base to do all the sights of Nice, Beaulieu sur Mer,Cannes, and of course Monaco. . On sunny days we spent time by the lovely pool and had a barbecue, and a walk up the footpath to the beautiful Eze. There is also a wonderful restaurant at the top of the hill, just a 40 minute walk from the villa. The villa has a wonderful big balcony which can be accessed from kitchen, lounge and bedroom with stunning views that will stay with you for ever. The villa was of grand proportion and well - maintained, equipped with home comforts like sky tv, wi fi, fireplace, nice furniture.
I would defiantly return to the villa from further breaks .

Delightful, well-equipped villa with great views

Review Submitted: October 18, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
Tucked onto a steep, tapering plot at the top of Eze Bord de Mer, this villa is secure, comfortable and extremely well equipped. The house, its terraces and gardens have been well maintained and thoughtfully improved to a high standard. The views both up to Eze Village and out to sea are a constant pleasure. Although by no means an isolated villa, the outdoor areas are secluded.

The owners provided excellent service, meeting us personally on arrival and departure. An initial problem with connecting to the wi-fi was rapidly resolved. No other problem was encountered.

Eze Bord de Mer is largely residential. The beach is stoney, with two beach clubs, but only accessible by crossing the railway line which runs between the beach and the Basse Corniche. For supermarkets, shops, squares, restaurants, etc., it is necessary to visit adjacent towns. This is no hardship as there is easy access to Cap d'Ail, Beaulieu, St Jean (Cap Ferrat) and Villefranche, as well as Nice and Monaco.

Having rented a number of villas from Les Adrets to Cap d'Ail, none has felt so immediately a home from home. I would thoroughly recommend this villa.

Fantastic Views

Review Submitted: February 7, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2007
Beautiful home with a lovely garden. Great views from the upper balcony. The villa is very clean and well maintained. We ate most nights at the house and used the well equipped kitchen. A car is needed to get to the local food markets. Many areas for nice walks/hikes. You can hike up to Eze village and there are many nice walks in nearby Cap Ferrat. We were a group of 4 adults and 2 children and we were all able to sleep comfortably. Hope I can return someday!

Lovely place to stay on Cote D'Azur

Review Submitted: January 21, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2007
I stayed at this villa with my (adult) family - there were 6 of us and we had a fabulous time. The location was amazing with fabulous views over the Med.

The location couldn't be beaten, with a choice of beaches nearby along with the beautiful village of Eze, Nice, Monaco and so much to see and do.

The provisions for eating in are great too - we barbequed and used the kitchen a couple of evenings and everything that we needed in terms of utensils etc. was present.

The grounds are beautiful with lovely mature plants.
The house itself was extemely spacious and very good value when compared with other properties in the area. The villa itself isn't furnitished in an extremely modern way, but this is reflected in the price and was not an issue for us at all. The couple who own the villa are lovely too and always available to answer any questions.

Would definitely recommend this to friends and family.
