Grasse holiday villa: Spéracèdes

This is the first time we have taken a villa in France, previously having enjoyed numerous campsites throughout France. Our choice was well made and all (adults and teenage children) would vote for a villa of this type/quality again.
The location does require a car to get the best out of the area. However, the train station in Grasse is the best way to get to the main coastal areas and stops at most locations.
The villa facilities were excellent and the pool was a big success - the sun shone for all 14 days!
From the local Speracedes village for bread and meat to the supermarket (about 3 kilometers) food shopping was easy. Grasse is the closest town and has a good range of shops. The most relevant is the perfume industry and best of these is Fragonard; the tour is very good and any staff we met including the shop were very helpful and friendly.
Best local restaurants are in Cabris but for something really special a visit to Mougins is recommended.
Best day out on the coast is by train to Monaco - not all glitz, boats and casinos; the history of Monaco is worth exploring. Be prepared for some steep climbs but they are worth it.

This is a lovely villa - perfect for small children or adults with older children. The house is all on one level and has a fenced patio and separate swimming pool making it very safe for children.

The two main bedrooms open on to the view and patio but if there were eight adults the two other bedrooms do not have much of a view although they are a good size.

The view is stunning and the gardens lovely with many large olive trees to provide shade. A beautiful pool kept everyone happy.

it is close enough to Nice to make the journey from the airport easy and quite short. I would advise that you do not use Avis car hire. My son and small twins waited two hours to collect their car which was not much fun in the heat and after a journey

The property was in good condition, clean and well maintained with most things that we needed although there were insufficient towels for the week and they were small and hard. We had to pay extra for bed linen and towels to be provided.

We would definitely recommend the villa. It is in a lovely area with the sea about 30 minutes away. There are several pretty villages near by and good restaurants in Cabris. Supermarkets are close by and several pizza vans selling excellent pizzas. A good area to explore.

We did catch the train from Grasse to Monaco but it was very hot and exposed for the small children.

Altogether a very good holiday.
