The Friendly Villa:
When we decided to rent Villa des Sapins, we wanted to make sure your holidays would be as happy and carefree as possible. First of all, everything is included: light, heat (if you need it), and wireless internet. Secondly, you'll find sound and video, and shelves full of good books. There are plenty of towels for each guest, and a full set of linen, again, all included in the cost. There are loads of plates, cutlery, dishes, utensils and glasses, and more than enough chairs and loungers. We provide mountain bikes, including a couple for bigger kids, so you can discover the forest at the end of the garden. And lastly, there's high quality furniture and decorations: no fragile antiques to concern parents, but leather couches, rugs, and big lamps, so you can relax in comfort and style. All we ask is that you respect the villa and the tranquility of the neighbourhood, and leave the place as you found it... Villa des Sapins is our home from home: we hope you'll enjoy your stay there too
Tennis, Golf and Skiing:
There are tennis courts available for hire in Peymeinade, just 3 km away.
There are many good golf courses within a short drive - please ask us for details.
For skiing, it is a comfortable 1.45 hour drive to Isola 2000, where there's usually excellent snow, and a good friendly atmosphere. Isola offers half day lift passes, from 12:30 onwards. There are plenty of public car parks, but arriving after lunch can be a problem for parking. Auron is also recommended near Isola, but lower at 1600. Greolieres is nearer, but via lots of mountain roads which can upset passengers, and the snow can be variable. No skiing before mid-January usually.
It's no problem to drive out and back to the slopes each day, especially to Isola and its neighbours, since the roads are good and mainly dual carriageway.
Weather in the South of France:
We're at 300m elevation, so we get nice cooling breezes in the height of the summer.
But the South of France in July and August is hot, most days being above 30º. There are big fans in the bedrooms. There's no air con. Bring the shutters down in the daytime, and the house keeps cooler. Averages for hours of sun per day and temperature (ºC) are: May 7h, 19º; June 8h, 23º; July 9h, 26º; Aug 9h, 26º; Sept 7h, 24º and Oct 6h, 20º.
