Spacious Provencal style villa built to a very high standard using local materials with reclaimed terracotta floors throughout, Biot glass windows, and stone fireplace. Situated in a quiet location in a private road yet within walking distance of the delightful medieval village of Tourrettes. Beautiful south facing, secluded gardens with stunning 360-degree views, mature roses, and citrus trees, . On the first floor there are two double bedrooms with private balcony/large terrace. Both are south facing and enjoy sea views. Fully equipped bathroom/wc including shower & bidet. The private master suite on the ground floor has en-suite bathroom with shower and separate wc/bidet. Bedroom 4/study has direct access to terrace. The large living/dining area enjoys triple aspect views and gives way via French doors to pool (10mX5m) and further French doors to outside terrace/BBQ area. Downstairs cloakroom, ironing/work room, fully equipped kitchen & utility room. Ample wardrobe space and storage

Tourrettes-sur-Loup known as 'city of the violets' is situated overlooking the coast some 20km inland from Nice, barely 30 minutes from Nice airport. The perched medieval village is tranquil and charming, very well kept but not overly commercialised. Nearest town is Vence just a 7 minutes drive, which offers Provencal arts and culinary specialities. 10minutes further is St Paul de Vence with its array of galleries and boutiques. The entire Riviera's chique resorts and beaches are just a short drive with Antibes 30 minutes away with its grand old city ramparts and modern marina. To the west is Cannes and St Tropez with Menton and Monte Carlo in the East, with Italy beckoning just beyond. Driving into the mountains through Gorge du Loup finds Gourdon with its dizzy peak - lunch with a stunning view. Grasse and its perfumeries are within a 30 minute drive. Tourrettes boasts arts, crafts and local delicacies with a good a range of restaurants from bistro & creperie to haute cuisine.

Notes: The house is designed for year round living and is comfortable in all seasons. The architecture is Provencal and executed to an unusually high standard with a very spacious feel throughout. Floors are in original terracotta and numerous arches and nooks create a special ambiance. All windows are double glazed and have shutters to protect from summer sun. In warm weather the outdoor dining terrace is a haven with its shaded area and direct access to the pool. The traditional pizza oven is a very special feature which compliments the gas BBQ (charcoal BBQ also available). A main feature of the living area is a very large fireplace hewn from local stone. Logs are available for the winter months, though it is rarely very cold. Kitchen is compact in typical French style but fully equipped for modern living. Satellite TV is available in most languages. ADSL connection provides unlimited internet access (wifi). Outdoor table tennis, football and small snooker table. Electric gates & alarm.

Outdoor and Sports: From the house you can walk to Tourrettes or hike into the mountains. The Cote d' Azur boast numerous golf courses of varying standards and several are accessible within 20 minutes drive. All types of watersports are available from the main coastal resorts, such as nearby Cagnes-sur-Mer, Villeneuve Loubet and Antibes with Port Vauban's vast Marina. Further there is horseriding from Colle de Vence, rafting through underground gorges from Gorge du Loup and higher up in Gourdan paragliding, however, this is not for the faint hearted! One of Europe's largest tennis schools (54 courts) is La Vanade in Villeneuve Loubet.

Children's Activities: The large pool at the house provides endless distraction for children of all ages. It has shallow step entry at one end and sufficient depth to dive (with care) at the other and is fitted with an alarm system. The Villa provides outdoor table tennis, mini snooker, and table football. Beaches are not far away and are mixed sand and shingle at various locations along the coast with many attractions and beach bars. Marineland and Aquasplash near Biot/Antibes is very popular. In summer the evening shows are less arduous being somewhat cooler. There is also karting and mini-golf at Antibes Land.

Travel : Tourrettes-sur-Loup is best reached via Nice airport, which is some 20 minutes away. Marseilles airport is over one hours driive. A rental car is recommended and in the high season should be booked well in advance. There is a free public mini-bus which picks up at the car park (5 min walk from the house) and drops off at the church in Tourrettes. The Eurostar serves the Cote d' Azur and the nearest railway station is Cagnes-sur-Mer (10km). Driving from Calais can be achieved entirely by motorway - allow 12 hours with stops. A ferry service to Corsica is available from Nice. Though a car is recommended there is a bus service from Tourrettes (stops just 5minutes away) going to Vence from where you can access a wider public transport network. A taxi service is also available direct from Tourrettes village.

Our stay in Tourrettes sur Loup

Tucked away in the hills of Tourrettes sur Loup, this villa is wonderfully secluded whilst being a only a short drive from many vibrant villages and towns.

After walking to the local bakery for bread and eating breakfast on the terrace, we'd decide what to do for the day - in our week there we visited Nice, Monacco and Monte Carlo, made our own perfume/aftershave in one of the many perfumeries in the surrounding area, bought a lot of chorizio, cheese and wine from the farmers markets and still had time to relax in the winter sun.

At night the log fire is perfect to sit by with a glass of wine and a book or a movie on Sky; we spent many an hour doing just this.

An ideal summer retreat

We loved this villa so much we have booked again this year. Its rustic Provencal style is charming, spacious and well laid out for family and visitors. The old style shutters keep it beautifully cool on those very hot days but the house has every mod con you could wish for including satellite TV, computer and internet connection making it feel very much like a home from home. The pool, which is right beside the house by the terrace area, and the very pretty mature gardens are both discreetly tended on behalf of the owner, and the views are stunning.

We knew the beautiful village of Tourrettes quite well before we found this villa and kept coming back, but have found this to be a perfect set up for us. We really like the fact that you can stroll down to the village for shopping or to the restaurants in the evening and never need get in the car. However, there are plenty of things to do and places to visit just a short drive away. Thoroughly recommended!

A perfect holiday home!

After 10 years of visiting Provence and the Cote d'Azur, this has to the best villa we have stayed in!
The villa itself is charming, and the original and slightly quirky decor make a refreshing change from the run-of the-mill holiday rental properties. This place feels like a home. It is quiet and private, and not overlooked by any of the neighbouring houses.
The owners ensure that the house, pool and garden are immaculate, and are incredibly helpful with information and communication.
Particular things we like are: satellite TV (we spent the mornings on our last holiday watching the Olympics from Beijing!), computer and internet (very handy for keeping up to date with e-mails, as well as checking out local information), top quality gas barbecue, and, of course, the pizza oven!
The village is a short stroll away, and is also a lovely place. It has all of the medieval style and charm of its near neighbour, St Paul, but few of the tourists. There are some lovely shops and plenty of nice restaurants to choose from.
Our kids enjoyed the trip to the sweet factory just a few miles away at Pont sur Loup, and there is a nice walk up the Gorge du Loup from the same spot. "Canyonning" down the gorge looks like great fun, but we haven't been brave enough to try it yet!
Beaches are a short drive away, with some great places at Cap d'Antibe (which you can see from the villa).
This really is a perfect place for both relaxing and exploring!
