Pefect Summer Holiday
Review Submitted: January 18, 2009
Date of Stay: July 2008
We stayed in Le Genevrier for two weeks in July/August 2008. The accommodation was spotless, well equiped and comfortable. Sandra and Colin were good hosts - there if you needed them but not obtrusive. Sandra cooked us a meal for our anniversary which was delicious. The pool was a godsend during exceptionally hot weather. The supermarket and petrol station are handily placed and the twice-weekly market in Aups is well worth a visit (there was also a night market when we were there which sold crafts etc).
We had some nice meals in Aups, Tourtour and other places of which I have forgotten the names.
Le Diamant Noir is in an excellent place for sightseeing, watersports on the Lac Ste Croix and isn't too far from the coast for a day trip. The Grand Canyon du Verdon is a marvel and the Route des Cretes has outstanding views. We only saw a couple of fields with lavender on the Valensole Plateau as most had already been cut by the time we arrived, but the views and aroma must be magnificent when in full bloom. Steve played golf at Golf de Barbaroux in Brignoles, which was a challenging course but well worth the visit. We went to St Tropez for the day - take Colin & Sandra's advice, park up in Ste Maxime and get the ferry across. If you don't, you will end up stuck in traffic along the coast for hours! If you want to go further afield, the Villa Ephrussi-de-Rothschild on Cap Ferrat is well worth a visit - beautifull gardens in a magnificent setting.
All in all, we had the perfect summer holiday.
