In a 16th century Farm (Bastide Provençale), at the feet of the superb medieval village of Le Castellet, at 5 minutes driving distance from Bandol and the beaches: charm and authenticity in the homeland of novel writer and film maker Marcel Pagnol. We offer you to share the unique atmosphere left by our ancestors in 3 charming provence style apartments and a historical cottage for 4-8 persons. All 4 carry names of Pagnol’s film caracters and each of them has its own personality. They all have private shaded terraces and private entrances. They have in common: a large swimming pool (11 x 5,5 m) on a property of 3000 sqm. facing the vineyards and a private parking. A dream of peaceful and untouched surroundings, where the easiness of live and the famous «accent provençal » cherished by Marcel Pagnol himself still persists. Here, the vineyards of the world famous Bandol and the bronze coloured olive-trees are deployed as far as the eye can see.

Apartment FANNY is located at the back of the Mas du Galantin and occupies a portion built between the 17th and the 18th century. It previously gave shelter to the vineyard workers during the season. This is reflected in the pleasant distribution of the rooms, starting with the spacious living/dining room fully renovated with The wooden structure of the roof that has been kept visible just like the stone build wall. The renovated well equipped kitchen has a very nice view on the vineyards. In the sleeping rooms, the simplicity of the ancient times goes well together with the vividly coloured fabrics. One of the sleeping rooms has direct access to the private 20 sq meter patio-terrace where the BBQ-fans will be delighted by the perfectly working installations. The large table invites the inhabitants of Fanny to gather at the terrace, whenever there is an opportunity!

The MAS DU GALANTIN is located at Le Plan du Castellet, small village located between the famous medieval village of Le Castellet (2 min driving distance) and the famous seaside resort of Bandol (5 min driving distance). Easily accessible (via A50 Marseille-Toulon highway or 45 min. driving distance from Marseille airport), it is surrounded by and presents beautiful views of the vineyards of the famous Bandol AOC as well as the Gros Cerveau mountain chain. Lots of sports activities within short distance and very diverse sightseeing spots nearby. The Bandol area has a wonderful microclimate with pluviometry not exceeding 650 m/m per year. Bandol is a true seaside resort. Many sand beaches, cliffs, inlets and creeks are all part of this natural environment and are surrounded by hills of pines and willows.

  • The rental rate includes water, heating, electricity, and kitchen gas. Linen is optional, bath towels and kitchen towels must be brought.
  • Rental starts on Saturdays between 4 pm and 6 pm and ends on Saturdays between 9 am and 11 am.
  • An advance payment of 30% is due upon reservation, the balance is due at the handing out of the keys unless done at least 2 weeks prior to arrival. A security deposit of 30% is due upon arrival and will be refunded at the departure after checking of the apartment.

We enjoyed our stay in Apartment Fanny in the fall of 2008. The description on the website was accuate. The location was great for sight seeing throughout the area.
Jocelyn met us as soon as we arrived and she was excellent in making us familiar with the apartment as well as providing us information on nearby towns etc. We had lots of room in the apartment with views of the vine yards from every window. We would recommend this property to anyone. We were less than 10 minutes ( by car) from the town of Bandol. We loved Bandol.
Great golf course nearby.
We have intentions of returning to Mas de Galantin in the not too distant future.

Authentic French Accomodation

We (husband, 2 sons age 5&6 and myself) recently stayed at this lovely French Mas. The friendly owner kindly upgraded us to a larger apartment at no extra cost.
The apartment was full of character, well equipped, very clean and spacious. The outside pool was the best we have seen, complete with alarm. The property mostly matched the description on this website. (Discrepencies with regard to: linen - states included in one section, not included in another; and beds - two singles detailed in one section, which are actually bunks upon further reading). We were able to watch some DVDs in English, and there was plenty of reading material, if you read French!
It would be an improvement if the owner were to leave eg washing up liquid,multi surface cleaning agent & cloths, as of course everyone wants to leave a place as clean as they find it, but may find it annoying to buy those items, use a slight amount and have to leave the rest. There was a welcome gesture of a bottle of wine, which was generous and kind, but a small bottle of milk and some coffee would have been even more welcome after 12 hours of travel. If you arrive in the late evening, as we did, be aware that supermarkets will be shut if it is after 8pm, you will struggle to buy food from a shop, and therefore you will be forced to eat out.
Superb family beaches at St Cyr, and the hill top town of Le Castellet is a must for a day out. The village of Le Plan du Castellet, the location of this accomodation, is unremarkable, and a car is needed. A trip up and along the very steep and winding roads to Mt Faron in Toulon would provide cool relief among the trees on a hot sunny day, but the drive is not for the faint hearted!
Finally, if you fly from Marseilles, do not follow the signs to the airport which take you off the A50, as travelling along the Marseilles ring road is not pleasurable!

Cottage Fanny

Cottage Fanny comes with a terrace and grill, which is wonderfully conducive to having a relaxing evening dinner. It was very spacious and would probably have been put to better use had there been 2 more of us instead of just us and the baby. Having the washing machine was a godsend too.
All of the kitchen conveniences were here, including dishwasher - important if you want to spend your holiday sightseeing and not cleaning.
The pool area was peaceful and the perfect spot to recline with trashy novel.
