Introduction: :
Nestling in its own sunny little valley, 150 metres from the centre of one of the loveliest villages in Provence is Residence du Moulin. Restored sympathetically in 1989 around the huge stone arches of the 17th century olive mill, the interior of our apartment has been designed and finished to a high specification, yet the atmosphere is traditional Provencal. Spacious and cool in the summer, and cosy in the winter and spring. Our apartment, which we live in for much of the year ourselves, provides a delightful setting in which to enjoy your holiday in Provence.
The Village: :
Cotignac is a typical Provencal village. There is an excellent selection of cafes and restaurants under the plane trees in the main Cours (village square). For supplies - butchers, boulangeries, patisseries, and greengrocers are all within few minutes walk. It is set in beautiful countryside, worthy in its own right of exploration on foot, by bicycle or car.
The French Riviera is an hour (St Raphael) to 90minutes away (Nice) and 40 minutes inland is Lac de St Croix and the Gorge du Verdon where you can swim, windsurf or canoe on the beautiful lake or drive along or around the spectacular gorge.
Accommodation::
The front door opens onto the first floor landing with a galleried mezzanine floor to accommodate the two huge stone arches of the old mill. The arches had housed the machinery for the olive presses and now create an impressive feature to dominate the living area. The salon/dining room is a large and comfortable, terra-cotta-tiled area with Provencal style fireplace. Hand-painted Provencal tiles cover the worktop and breakfast bar. Two sets of triple French windows open onto the southern terrace overlooking the river, and another triple set opens to the loggia and the eastern terrace by the side of a water-race. The large south-facing terrace has a remote-controlled full or partial cover awning
