'Les Oliviers' - peaceful, self contained apartment for two with pool

Situated half-way between St Tropez and the Gorges du Verdon this cosy, well-equipped apartment attached to a recently built villa on an enclosed olive grove offers peace and tranquillity whilst being only 15 minutes walk away from the centre of the lively, typically Provencal village of Flayosc. The apartment offers every modern convenience: oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, TV (BBC, ITV, French channels), DVD and hi-fi, shared use of washing/drying facilities. It is electrically heated, has a log burner for cosy winter evenings and air conditioning for the summer. The private terrace and garden area looks over vineyards and olive groves and is equipped with barbecue and garden furniture. The 9.5x4.5m above ground pool is shared with the resident English owners. Flayosc is a superb base for a wonderful holiday: relax in the sunshine, walk or cycle (2 bikes provided) in the beautiful countryside, visit the coast, the mountains or the colourful provencal markets.

Flayosc is situated in the Provencal region of the Central Var, or the 'Pays Dracenois', the capital of which is the town of Draguignan. It is an area of contrasts from fertile plains planted with vines and olive trees to mountainous areas covered in pine forests and evergreen oaks. There are gorges and the beautiful 12c. Cistercian Abbaye du Thoronet close by. The central Var is characterised by the many fortified perched villages built to protect against Saracen invasion in the Middle Ages - Flayosc is just one of these typically Provencal villages and is situated half way between the French Riviera at St Tropez and the famous Gorges de Verdon. Cotes de Provence AOC is the most commonly found wine in the region - the rosé and the red are delicious and most villages in this region have their own wine cooperative. Olive oil is also important (you can enjoy our own olive oil whilst staying at Les Oliviers) and mills are to be found in most villages - Flayosc has 3 olive mills.

In order to help our guests to take advantage of cheap mid-week flights we are happy to accept mid-week changeovers. Stays must be for a minimum of one week in high season (May - October). Additional days will be charged pro-rata. The apartment will be available from 16.00 on the day of arrival and should be vacated by 10.00 on the day of departure in order to allow for cleaning and inventory checking.

Notes to the rental rates

  • PAYMENT MAY BE MADE BY: bank transfer or by credit card using the secure PAY PAL system.
    INCLUDED IN THE RENTAL RATES: a substantial welcome pack, linen and towels (including pool towels) and all water, electricity and electric heating. There will be no further charges.
    2. Weekend / mid week lets are possible according to availability.
    3. Payment is accepted in Euros - please contact the advertiser for rates.
    4. Payment may be made by bank transfer or by credit card using PAYPAL.
    5. Any bank charges must be paid by the payee.
  • WINTER LETS: the apartment has electric heating throughout including an electric towel dryer (sêche serviettes) and a log burning stove. As during the summer, our winter rental rates are fully inclusive of all utilities: water, electricity and gas. Wood for the first night will be supplied and additional wood can be purchased on behalf of clients on request. Two double duvets are supplied - 4.5 tog and 12 tog so ensuring that our guests are warm at all times.
  • SECURITY DEPOSIT: a security deposit of £100 (€150) is payable with the balance. This will be repaid by bank transfer within a few days of the end of the holiday. The WELCOME PACK is extensive including all condiments, herbs de Provence, coffee, English tea, orange juice, cereal, bottle of water, sugar, fresh milk, eggs, bread, jam, margarine, local wine. We also supply toilet rolls, shower gel and soap.

This cosy apartment has a double bedroom with en-suite shower room and separate toilet. A cot and high chair are available on request. The living/dining room with kitchen area is fully equipped for all needs. All linen is supplied and duvets and pillows are polyester and suitable for asthmatics and others with allergies: no fresh flowers will be placed in the apartment. The living area has TV (BBC, ITV, French channels) and DVD, video and hi-fi. CDs, English language videos and DVDs are available on free loan. There is shared use of washing machine, washing line and tumble dryer. Although the apartment would be accessible to elderly and infirm guests, it must be noted that the grounds are steeply terraced and access to the different levels is by steps. Leisure Activities - inland

You need never be bored in this beautiful area. You need not use your car for the whole of your stay - you can relax in your private garden in our olive grove; walk down our lovely 'chemin', the Chemin de l'ensoleillade or 'sunny path', and enjoy the magnificent views over the vineyards and olive groves towards the Massif des Maures; explore our charming village (15 minutes walk from our home), 'chill' in our pool or explore further afield on foot. If you wish to be more active the closest 18 hole golf course is at La Motte; canoeing at Les Arcs sur Argens and Vidauban; mountain-biking at Figanieres; climbing at Salernes, Chateauvert, Aiguines; bungee jumping at Pont de l'Artuby; gliding at Fayence and Vinon-sur-Verdon; pot-holing at Le Val et Neoules; fishing for pike, crayfish and trout at Carces and for trout, pike and carp in the Verdon River and Sainte-Croix lake; canoe, motor boat and pedalo trips, from Pont de Galetas (Ste Croix); ski-ing at Valberg (2.5hrs) and much more!

Leisure Activities - coastal region

Flayosc is just a short drive from Ste Maxime, St Raphael (40 kms) and St Tropez, behind which is the beautiful Massif des Maures with its cork oaks and chestnut trees. We recommend going to St Tropez by boat, particularly in the summer when the road to the village is one big traffic jam - a short trip from Ste Maxime or a longer crossing from St Raphael - the view of the village as you approach it by sea is 'something else' . The islands of Porquerolles (a botanist's paradise!), accessible by boat from Hyeres and other coastal towns, are well worth a visit - hire a bike at the port at Porquerolles and spend the day exploring this wonderful island. If you enjoy adventurous sports then there's scuba diving around the islands off the coast - the Port Cros subsea discovery trail is a fabulous experience for divers equipped with flippers and a snorkel. There's golfing, potholing, climbing, fishing, watersports and lovely beaches - and in February the mimosas blossom!

Les Oliviers Apartment

Les Oliviers is our home and was built in 2001 on what was an abandoned one-acre olive grove. Our apartment has been available since Christmas 2004 and has been converted with care and attention to detail. Everything that we would have wanted for a self-catering holiday has been included also a welcome pack. It is open all year round with no charge for electric heating in the winter. We spend our time tending our olive trees, caring for our hens and teaching in the local town of Draguignan. Les Oliviers Apartment is ideal for couples who wish to 'get away from it all' and also for those who wish to make this a base for house-hunting in the region - we would be happy to share our experiences of settling in this area with guests and can introduce you to one of our neighbours who is a local estate agent! Our position on the outskirts of Flayosc in the central Var means that our guests can easily take advantage of the whole of this fascinating region.

Les Oliviers - Simply the Best!

My wife and I stayed at Les Oliviers for the first time last July for our annual summer holiday. We have been going to Flayosc each summer now for the last ten years. We have visited other areas of France but we still get drawn back to Flayosc. We took "pot luck" last year and booked Les Oliviers from the internet and it turned out to be one of the best decisions we have ever made. The appartment is excellent and is ideal for a couple, although Keith & Judith did manage to accommodate our daughter, son-in-law and grandson who had left their holiday arrangements to the last minute (as usual). Anyway Keith and Judith went out of their way to make our stay a memorable one, and we enjoyed our stay so much we have already booked for this year!
I think that Keith and Judith have used the experience of their past holidays in France and created a holiday appartment which is second to none. I can thoroughly recommend Les Oliviers to anybody who is looking to visit the South of France and have an excellent holiday.
