A delightful apartment on the garden level of a private villa. This self contained accommodation is ideal for a small family. One entrance is into the open plan kitchen, which leads on to the living room there is a bed settee and dining area, There is a large double bedroom, and a separate shower room with WC. The other entrance is into the hall which divides the bedroom from the living area. The apartment has its own private paved terraces - one near the pool has a table & chairs & gas barbecue. You have sole use of the pool. There are beautifully landscaped gardens , and a fabulous pool with a diving area. There is private parking. There is a great restaurant within walking distance, and it is approx 1.5kms from the village for local shopping, daily bread etc.

In the heart of Provence, between the pines, vilnes and olive trees. Secluded without being remote. The property is just outside the medieval village of Montferrat, which is a couple of minutes by car (butcher, baker, grocer, newsagent, post office, tobacconist, bars and restaurants) The A8 Autoroute is 20 minutes away (Junction 36) giving easy access to the whole of the French Riviera. The bay of St. Tropez, Frejus, St Raphael, and St Maxime beaches are 18 miles away (south) The Gorges du Verdon are 12 miles away (north).

The outside aspects of this apartment were beautiful, with lovely views and a well-maintained pool, shared with the owners, who are friendly and helpful. You aren't really within walking distance of a shop for your morning croissants,but provided you stock up in advance, you're in the centre of beautiful mountainous countryside, with pretty villages and the amazing Gorge du Verdon not far away. The river Nartuby near Rebouillon has lovely rock pools for paddling in. We did drive to the coast, but being August the traffic was terrible, so at this time of year it probably works better as a mountain holiday than a beach one, though you could do both. Inside the apartment was comfortable; the kitchen equipment is very basic, so if you want to cook cordon bleu meals it will probably need to be on the gas barbecue, which we didn't get round to trying. Overall, a lovely place for enjoying the sun.

Very peaceful, away from it all holiday!

The description of the property is accurate, the apartment is tucked away up a long winding hill road which is only used for access to properties, so there is very little traffic and adds to the serenity of the location.
The layout and amenities are basic but functional, there is a microwave, 2 ring hob, and small grill oven in the kitchen. Bathroom has a good shower. The bedroom lets the property down a little with a pretty uncomfortable bed, but I wouldn't let this put anyone off renting the property as the positives far outweigh any negatives. The only thing I would say is that the owners could do with putting in a new set of crockery and cutlery along with changing the bed and it would be perfect! The pool is great and well maintained, but doesn't have a shallow end. The owners are very friendly and will do anything to help you...
The walk into Montferrat is not for the faint hearted as you'll have to tackle a big hill on the way back, but you'll have worked off your chocolate brioche from the local boulangerie in advance. Also in town are 2 restaurants, La Voute which is excellent and Des Moines which is better than you might think when you first go in. There are also a couple of bars which we didn't try.
There are plenty of little towns nearby to discover, we visited Chateaudouble, Finangieres, Bargemon (where there are a number of restaurants) and La Motte, which has a lovely vineyard (Chateau Reva). There are literally hundreds of vineyards in the area, but we only visited this one and would heartily recommend it.
We also took day trips to Antibes, to Marineland (very good), St Tropez (wouldn't recommend - horrendous traffic), and Monaco (worth a look, but beware the prices at the Cafe de Paris!). Unfortunately we couldn't go into the Monte Carlo casino with a baby in pushchair.
Overall we had a brilliant time. I would say the apartment is good for a couple on their own or with a small child.
