Attractive small apartment in medieval village near St Tropez

A modern apartment in the picturesque medieval village of La Garde Freinet set in a National Park, 20 minutes from the coast and St.Tropez. The apartment is on the 1st floor (lift available) with a balcony overlooking the village and the Maures Hills beyond. It has most mod cons: washing machine/dryer, electric heating, fridge, 2-ring hob, oven, microwave, CD/radio system and a fan. It is ideal for 2 or max 3 adults. To the rear is a swimming pool with sun terrace and one space is provided in the secure car park. The village has several restaurants and bars,a twice-weekly market, some very good shops and a Post-office. The region is stunning for walkers and cyclists, for swimming, golf, horse riding, mountain biking, sailing, tennis and much more. The history of the region and the many villages are well worth exploring, as are the numerous local vineyards. Additional information can be found in the local village tourist office. Both Nice and Toulon airports are just over one hour.

La Garde-Freinet is one of Provence's best-preserved medieval villages. It's architecture has remained in excellent condition with stone houses in narrow streets arranged around the village squares. La Garde-Freinet offers an excellent choice of restaurants and bars, good shops including a Spar, two boulangeries and butchers, antique, wine and hardware shops, boutiques, a Postoffice, and a twice-weekly market. It is the ideal point for discovering the Maures Hills and the local monument is 'Fort Freinet' a stone settlement built in the 12th Century. The village is not far from the stunning Bay of St Tropez, St Maxime, Port-Grimaud and many other beautiful coastal towns and villages. There is a 'touch of history' at nearby Le Rayol-Canadel where the Provencal landings took place at midnight August 14-15th 1944. The inland villages are equally beautiful, full of history and interesting features, which is why so many artists choose to live in or visit this unique region of France.

Notes to the rental rates

  • The Bath towels, bed linen and kitchen & tea towels are provided for the apartment for a charge of £22 per week (or week-end) for two people or £30 for four people. A further £25 is charged for cleaning when the apartment is vacated.
    A welcome food and beverage pack is provided on arrival, including milk, tea, coffee, bread, butter, cheese & a bottle of wine.
    The village shop, boulangeries and butchers are a 5 minute walk.
  • A deposit of £100.00 per week booked is required at the time of booking, and the balance 4 weeks prior to the vacation.Verbal/email bookings will be accepted but must be confirmed in writing with the due deposit within 7 days. A separate £100.00 breakage deposit cheque will also be requested with the balance, to be returned or part refunded after the vacation, subject to any damage incurred.

THE APARTMENT CONTAINS A FRIDGE, WASHING MACHINE/DRYER , MICROWAVE & CONVENTIONAL OVEN, TWO FANS, A CD/RADIO. THERE IS NO 'PHONE OR TV. Saturday is the main changeover day but it is possible to negotiate another day of the week around long week-end or 10-day lets. There is a lift available.

The local market

is held twice a week (Sundays & Wednesdays), here you can find all you need, cheese, fish, herbs, flowers, vegetables, fish stalls plus local wine and olive oil. Combine this with the local Spa and other shops and you never need leave the village. Although there is a Geant on the way to St Tropez with an amazing fish stall.

The village

is becoming a major attraction for walkers, artists and people, who like us, want the coast nearby but the ability to escape to some wonderful walks in the hills around the village. As cycling is a major French pastime, the roads around the village lead to numerous villages, many with great café's & restaurants that you can enjoy. The local tourist office has loads of information on the area, the walks, local events (of which there are many), much of this information is also available in the apartment.
