Want to enjoy the south of France without the crowds? This well-equipped two-bedroom bungalow is in the village of Les Salles sur Verdon, which sits on the edge of Lac Ste. Croix in the heart of France's largest national park - a perfect base for a beach holiday, to relax and to explore The Gorges du Verdon, the lavender fields of Valensole and the many Provencal villages. The crystal clear waters of the lake are a five minute walk away and offer safe family swimming and the opportunity to enjoy windsurfing and boat hire. The house has a living room, kitchen, bathroom with bath and shower, 2 bedrooms and a private garden with covered patio as well as a small front patio. A small supermarket, bakery, fruit and vegetable shop and butchers are a short walk. The village also has six restaurants, cafe and snack bars, gift shops, a children's playground, tennis and volleyball courts,a Boulodrome and a traditional Provencal market throughout the summer.

Les Salles sur Verdon offers the perfect location for many different types of holidays. The beaches on the lake are perfect for picnics, sunbathing (there are also plenty of places to sit in the shade) and the water is ideal for swimming, boating and wind surfing. The surrounding area offers the opportunity for climbing (in the Grand Canyon of the Gorges du Verdon, Europe's largest), walking and exploring the many beautiful Provençal villages. The village itself has everything you need with shops, restaurants, bars and cafes. There is a Thursday market each week and a Tourist Information Centre with an exhibition on the history of the village. The market town of Aups is a 15-20 minute drive and has a range of shops (including an Intermarché) and banks. A drive to the coast at St Tropez, Frejus or Cassis would take approximately 1.5 hours - but other than for a day trip it is unlikely you would want to leave the area as it offers all you need, without the crowds of the coast.

There are towels in the house, which you are welcome to use (for the bathroom and for use on the beach) and wash them at the end of your stay. Cleaning is DIY to keep costs down - we ask you to clean thoroughly before you leave, which is very straightforward.

The House : Has been re-furnished with new lounge, dining room, bedroom and garden furniture in June 2005. The kitchen, in addition to the equipment listed, has a good range of crockery, cutlery, glasses, utensils and pots and pans. The fridge is quite large with a separate freezer section. The large sofa in the living room will seat four (it would easily be possible for someone to sleep on this). There is also an arm chair. The dining table has four chairs and there are additional chairs, which enable seating for six. The TV receives French channels (useful for the weather) and there is a separate DVD. The CD/radio can be connected to an MP3 player/minidisk via a small stereo jack lead. Everything in the house runs on electricity – cooker (including ceramic hob and fan oven), hot water and wall-mounted heaters. Each bedroom has built in wardrobes with hanging space and shelves. There is an iron, ironing board and hairdryer.

Outside: There is a vine-covered patio with BBQ, a table and four chairs (with two additional fold-up chairs if required), and two sun loungers with separate cushions. The private rear garden is gravelled with borders and a mulberry tree. The garden faces east and it is possible to get either sun or shade in different places throughout the day. There is an additional patio area to the front of the house, ideal for catching the evening sun. There is a picnic rug for use at the beach etc. (though please wash it before you leave) and a cool box, ice packs and plastic cups and plates.

Sehr gute Location!.

Über Komfort und Aussattung siehe Objektbeschreibung und die anderen Bewertungen (Super).

Sehr gute Basis für Ausflüge ins Umland oder ans Meer.
Auch sehr gut um nur einfach Abzuhängen.

In diesem Objekt fühlt man sich von Anfang an wie zu Hause und sehr wohl.

Jederzeit immer wieder.

Wir bedanken uns nochmals bei Jonathan und Peter für sher schöne 2 Wochen Urlaub in der Provence

A lovely two bedroomed bungalow. Equipped with everything you could need for a peaceful and relaxing holiday, surrounded by beautiful scenery. Situated in a quaint village, housing a butchers, bakers, local supermarket, hotels and several bars/restaurants. The local residents are extremely friendly and helpful. My only criticism is that the back garden doesn't get a great deal of sunshine for sunbathing due to the proximity of the trees, but who needs a back garden when you are surrounded by such beauty, and a wonderful lake for swimming/sunbathing. Owners of the bungalow are extremely friendly and helpful.

To sum up, an excellent base from which to investigate the surrounding area.

A bungalow with everything you could possibly need provided for your use and comfort. Good communications with the owners helps you decide this is the place for you! If you enjoy lovely views, old villages perched on high, a wonderfully scenic lake to swim in or sail on & gorges to marvel at, do visit Les Salles sur Verdon. With good food & wine, what more can you ask from an area to spend your holidays in!
