The south-facing cottage is ideally situated. It is 700m from the unspoilt medieval hill village of Callian, only half an hour from the Mediterranean (Cannes, Frejus, Antibes) yet is set in lovely countryside, ideal for golf, walking, cycling and horse riding. The beautiful gorge and large lake nearby offering water sports facilities. The cottage is adjacent to the large swimming pool (10m x 5m and guarded). Terraces for sunbathing surround the pool.

Totally Relaxation

My wife and I stumbled quite by chance over this holiday cottage in 2000; we loved it that much that we have returned five times since with this August being the latest, but by no means the last visit as we have just booked for August 2010!

Unlike a lot of holiday rentals that are equipped with odds & ends of mis-matched furniture etc, the owners have equipped and furnished it with matching Jeff Banks crockery, bedding and curtaining that not only reflects the pride they have in it, but also makes the cottage feel more homely. It is equipped with everything you need including UK freeview TV and has been extensively modified since our first visit.

The owners are unobtrusive, but always on hand if one has any queries or problems. The pool, although not totally private, is virtually exclusive to the cottage as the owners usually only use it early morning or late evening.

The location offers something for everyone be it simply relaxing by the pool, enjoying some of the superb local restaurants, exploring some of the stunning local scenery such as the Verdon Gorges (about an hours drive away), or for the more adventurous the sports on offer nearby; gliding, canoeing, golf, parascending etc.

If you want to see more of the Cote d'Azur a car is a must as Frejus is about a 30 minute drive away, with other places such as Nice, Cannes, Monaco, St Tropez all within easy reach.

My only word of caution would be that due to the location the drive into the property is at quite a steep angle so anyone (like me) having a car with low ground clearance might experience some problems negotiating the driveway; that said it is not impossible and once done becomes musch easier.

In summary this cottage is the perfect getaway for two people, quiet, clean and amazing value for money. I have no hesitation in recommending it.

Callian Garden Cottage

We have just returned from our 7th summer holiday in
Callian and it was as wonderful as previous.The property
was very clean and in excellent order when we arrived and
we were greeted by the friendly and helpful owner. The
property is only a short walk from two charming villages
which are served by many good restaurants, cafes and bars. The cottage is surrounded by some great countryside
in which there are many walks and cycle tracks.I would
recommend the property to all my friends and relations
and have done so to some already. I would advise the need
of a car if sightseeing is planned but it is not essential if
you plan to relax at the cottage and just visit the local
area.The property is just as described on the website and
will please all visitors.

Lovely get-away

We loved our summer holiday in Callian, eating and drinking good local food on the terrace, and swimming in the pool. The owners were extremely helpful, friendly but not overbearing and the property was perfect. Callian is a great location for walks in the woods and nearby gorge, with some charming local restaurants and wine cellars.

The cottage was very comfortable and had everything that we needed.It was well maintained and extremely clean. It was a great base for exploring the area, either by bike (on and off road) by car and walking.
It was also great to relax by the pool on those very hot summer days. While staying in the cottage we went white water rafting ( approx 1 1/2 hours away) paragliding Approx (1 hours away) gliding (20 mins away.
The owners live on site and are friendly and helpful .

The property is everything we had hoped for,the location is ideal with two
charming villages within walking distance which have all the facilities that are needed, restaurants, shops and a bank. To get the most from
your holiday a car is required for sightseeing etc. but you can spend a
very peaceful time in and around the large pool or in the secluded garden
The property is well maintained and clean on arrival, and on the rare
occasion we had a problem it was dealt with promptly by the owner and I
have recommended the property to friends & family. We are about to
spend our sixth holiday at Callian which indicates how good we think
this property is! The owner will recommend local restaurants and places
of interest and has never been wrong.
