4 Bedrooms, sleeps 8, perfect for families, quiet yet near village

Beautiful old stone 'Bergerie', lovingly refurbished to create a relaxing family home. This detached house is situated within its private grounds of over 5000sqm just outside pittoresque village . The house retains it's caracter with an open fire place, Terracota and Tomette floors, old wood beams and thick walls. Downstairs consists of a spacious entrance hall, a large fully equipped kitchen/dining room with 2 sets of french doors opening on to the outside dining terrace and a sitting room with fireplace, T.V, DVD, HIFI, books, toys and games.There is also a cloakroom and an office area with telephone and broadband acces. All 4 bedrooms (one twin, three doubles) are on the 1st floor as well as 2 bathrooms and 1 seperate WC. The stunning private swimming pool with Roman steps is located away from the house and is accessed via some stone steps. The pool house has a shower (with hot water), w/c, fridge and terrace. Electric gates give you access to the grounds. Ample parking

Bagnols en Foret is a typical sleepy provencal hilltop village situated at equal distances between the hinterland market town of Fayence and the coast at Frejus/St.Raphael. The village is perched in the hills with views over the surrounding countryside, most of which is oak forests, broom and wild thyme fields. The long sandy beaches of Frejus and its water sports are just 18 km away. The breathtaking Lac St.Cassien is only 15 minutes away. Cannes, Nice, Antibes, Grasse, Mougins and St Tropez, all under 1h. You could pop to Italy for lunch or go to the Southern Alps for the day. There is plenty to keep you busy (that is only if you can tear youself away from the tranquility of the Bergerie!) Walking in the hills, sailing, fishing, wineries, gastronomy, paragliding, cycling, golf, shopping, the Glamour of the Riviera... Something for everyone. Notes: The house is ideal for families with ample space for children to roam around within the grounds. The elderly or infirm must be aware that there are a few steps within the house ( to go into the kitchen and dining room and upstairs on the first floor there are more steps for example). All the bedrooms are located on hte 1st floor. The layout works well for families with various generations. All mod cons have been fitted to make your stay more comfortable. There is a pool house with a summer kitchen, BBQ, fridge, shower and WC. Ample sun loungers, chairs, tables and parasols are located by the pool for your comfort. The pool is 10 by 5 metres, has Roman steps for easy acces and is fitted with a safety alarm as requires under French Law. The garden is well stockeand is looked after by our Gardener who visits on a regular basis.

GOLF FACILITIES: There are many top class golf courses in the area. The closest-and one of the best in France- is the Terre Blanche Golf Club Resort at the Four Seasons Resort Provence (about 15 min drive). They have two 18 hole courses which are open all year and a David Leadbetter Golf Acadamy.

The 18 hole St.Endreol golf course is 15 km from the house.

SPA FACILITIES: The brand new Spa at the Four Seasons Resort has won many rewards and is quite amazing. Les Domaines de St.Endreol Golf and Spa Resort in La Motte-en-Provence is about 25 minutes away. They offer an extensive range of luxurious treatments.

La Domaine de Fayence in Fayence offers spa and leisure facilities.

OTHER ATTRACTIONS: There are some very good wine makers in the region who are happy for you to visit their domaine and sample their produce.

Also within easy reach are the beaches of St.Tropez and the excitement of Monte Carlo. You are only a short drive from Aix en Provence, the Luberon, the Gorges de Verdon and Isola 2000 ski resort.

For the young at heart, there are a few Water Parks and plenty of Water Sports.

This region is packed with Museums hosting world renowned artists (Painters, Potters & Glassblowers).

Ski:

You can ski locally during the winter months at Valberg, Isola 2000 and Greolieres, just to name a few. It is possible to drive to the slopes on the Southern Alpes for the day.

Golf:

'I can hardly believe that our stay at La Bergerie is over. We LOVED the house! You have outfitted it with every imaginable thing that we could have needed. It was perfectly furnished and the extra toys were super. Thank you!
Our 5 year old kept referring to 'Amy's house & toys'... He is a BIG princess fan and enjoyed borrowing Amy's princess plate for meals!' April from Seattle 04/2006.
'The house managers were excellent - we kept them waiting when we arrived as it took 2 hours to pick up the car from Europcar for some reason, and they were happy to turn up at 7am when we left.
The house was a perfect layout for us with two families staying - we were able to have separate areas upstairs so we never felt on top of each other or having fights for the bathroom. The pol was excellent-having a shower/toilet, fridge etc by the pool was great and saved having to go back to the house frequently' Andy 07/2006.
Bedrooms and bathrooms were super allowing privacy for us and parents-in-law.HWA

The house is wonderfull, calm and well equipped.

I really do not have any negative comments. The house is wonderful, calm, very well equipped. Katie and the gardener were both very helpful and friendly (we even had fresh eggs delivered from the gardener!). Everything worked perfectly so I really can't think of any improvements.

We had a wonderfull stay at La Bergerie

We had a wonderful stay at La Bergerie. It's really a beautiful and comfortable house: bedroom and bathroom are very good, the living is both cosy and comfortable, the kitchen is very well equipped, the garden is beautiful and the pool is wonderful. The house book is perfect. The introduction by Melinda was pleasant and instructive. La Bergerie is a perfect place for having holiday in the Provence. Nearby the sea as well, so, we won't forget it!

A most excellent week in provence

This house was quite a find and perfect for the reunion of our two families from each side of the world. The pool is beautifully clean and it was great to have kitchen shower etc beside it too.

The house was very well equipped and our 2 year old found the cupboard in the lounge a complete treasure trove - no need to take toys out for your little ones its all there. 20 minutes or so from great beaches and the village is very pretty with all you need on your doorstep. We tended to alternate between inland perched village adventures and beach days - it really was a lovely spot!
Recommended for:  Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children
