Local Activities:
There is plenty of information in the villa regarding local activities, brochures and maps and of things to do. The local tourist information center is in Vidauban and also very helpful. Activities like canoeing, 4 wheel biking and horse riding are all close by. Other recreational facilities close to Plein Sud -apart from swimming in the private pool include swimming at the beaches or at the nearby Lac du St. Croix, which also has sailing. Golfers will be spoiled for choice with fine courses dotted along the coast and throughout the area. Also available within a short distance are mountain climbing and biking, windsurfing and kayaking. The breathtaking beauty of the Gorges de Verdon- one of the worlds most spectacular canyons is only an hours drive away.
Riding lessons and special courses in dressage or showjumping can be organized at the nearby Centre Equestre des Grand Pins- they do give lessons in english , german and french up to Grand Prix level
Weather:
The summer climate of the Provence is very pleasant with many hours of sunshine,very little rain and benefiting from both the Mediterranean and Alpine influences which can bring gentle, cooling breezes. All this is just perfect to enjoy a family holiday- either sitting by the pool or in a little cafe or bar, sampling the local rose wines and seeing the world go by.
The Var region and market towns:
The department of the Var encompasses some of the most unspoilt communes in France, beautiful old villages like Tour tour and Lorgues, La Garde Freinet and Callas,nesting in the hilltops nearly unchanged for centuries. Vidauban is a tranquil little village with a bustling sunday morning market, a selection of small shops, butchers,bakers, some very good restaurants and bars. There are 2 supermarkets and lots of vineyards. Other market towns nearby are Les Arc, La Luc, Lorgues and of course St. Tropez which boast of 2 market days per week- Tuesdays and Saturdays.
