Charming rustic property in secluded residence complete with original wooden beams. The 130 year old residence was a hotel and was renovated into individual apartments, studios and mews .Situated on the roof of the first floor, our house and terrace is surrounded by a beautiful balestrade. All main rooms open onto the terrace with views of mountains and mature gardens. Magnificent pool and kiddies pool. On oldest golf course in the Var region. Private parking. Walking distance from Golf club, restaurants, shops and tennis, three miles from beautiful old town of St. Raphael and four miles from historic Frejus and from fishing village of Agay with its long sandy beach and little coves with restaurants dotted along the way. 40 minutes from Nice Airport, 25 minutes from Cannes on one side, St. Maxime and St. Tropez on the other. Between Cannes and St.Tropez, the St.Raphael is a beautiful area with a stunning coastline, in particular the drive from St.Raphael to Cannes is in my view unmatched within the Cote d`Azur. The Cap Esterel separates St.Raphael from Cannes ie a hilly area heavily wooded and with stunning red rock. The town of St.Raphael is a thriving commercial town but with great charm - ideal both for shopping but with many interesting attractions. The old town of Frejus, just 10 mins by car is stunning and full of character with its Roman remains etc. There are many vineyards within 30 minutes drive of St.Raphael.

Golfers choice: There are at least thirty golf courses within a one hour drive of the property with varying degrees of difficulty.

Golf: This is a glorious golfing and tennis area. There are three golf courses in the immediate area and at least thirty more within a one hour drive. The green fees are quite reasonable ie in the region of €60 per round. There is also a nine hole golf course more suitable for beginners golf as well as a driving range. The two courses in the immediate area are interesting with lots of trees to catch the wayward drive and plenty of challenging water features around the greens. Then of course there is the 19th. In high season it is preferable to tee off relatively early due to the heat. Buggies can also be hired.

I have just stayed here for the past three months and enjoyed every single day of my stay. This is a unique place and no words or photographs will do it justice. The property is so full of charm with a wonderful history and many very famous people have stayed here. The overall property has been wonderfully restored to it's former glory and offers everything you would possibly require - and much more. There is a wonderful feeling of space and light and magnificent pool and gardens to enjoy with utter tranquility while also offering the visitor such immediate access to wonderful beaches and historic towns. You should seriously consider this property and talk to the charming owners who are such a pleasure to deal with. Sincerely yours, John

This place is first class the house has allways been immaculate on the 4times ive stayed in it.its great for eating outside and catching the sun all day.the house has 2 large rooms and sleeps 6 no problem it has a large bathroom and the kitchen is perfect with all the things you need.there is a dvd tv which is great to put the kids infront of for 5 min peace. its pools are great for the kids.frejus is 10 min away its just a great place to be in the south of france.the owner is great to deal with and very kind.if you want a nice clean house thats great value for money this is the place.

Our week at Rustic mews, Valescure in Sept 08

The apartment is part of an impressive building, a former grand hotel. It is spacious for 4 persons and has an impressive terrace with a big table which we used for almost all meals. The appartment is well equipped with furniture, stereo and beds, linen, towels, etc. Furthermore one can use the big and beautiful pool.
The location is very quiet and quite a bit off the beaten track. If you play golf it is the ideal place to go. Most of the other residents there are Fench, of age 55+ and there only for their holidays. You need a car in order to enjoy the nice beaches in Saint Raphael, Frejus or see St. Tropez, Cannes, Nice, etc.
Only constraint was the lack of thorough cleaniliness of the apartment. It needed some extra hoovering (dust and cobwebs), the kitchen was greasy and a little run down and actually needs replacement or serious renovation. If you enjoy cooking or have smaller children, I would ask if something has happened here since summer 08. However, we liked the place and would recommend it.
