Photos and Description of this Tourrettes holiday cottage Holiday rental in picturesque village, own grounds, slps 6

Idyllic family summer/winter holiday rental south-facing, in picturesque village nr. Nice in Provence. This romantic 200 yr old house is in Tourrettes, a short walk from Fayence, an ideal base for exploring the beaches (30 mins) and towns of Cote D'Azur. In own grounds of 2,200 m² meters the house and pool have sensational open views towards St. Tropez. Off a little lane the house is quietly situated amongst its own terraces planted with almond and 31olive trees! The covered dining terrace opens directly into the pretty sitting room, cosy in winter with its open fire. It adjoins the small but well-equipped kitchen with a dining table and door to the terrace - most meals however would probably be taken on the terrace overlooking the wonderful views. The same view is enjoyed from both double bedrooms which are attractively but simply furnished. The second double is on the 2nd floor with direct access to the private swimming pool at the rear of the house. The 3rd bedroom has bunk bed.

Notes: There is a pebbled driveway fringed with olive trees leading from a little lane towards the house with plenty of room for parking a number of cars. There is a useful 'cabanon' building next to the house where all the garden chairs etc. are kept. Steps lead from the house level up to the rear of the house and to the pool. The swimming pool is upright and 5 metres in diameter. It is situated spectacularly on the top terrace with panoramic views overlooking the valley below - a lovely place to sit under the shade of the large cream umbrella and have drinks early evening. The terraces are long and extensive with numerous beautiful old olive and almond trees but like many in Provence they are sloping and obviously have a drop to the one below. Consequently care must be taken to wear non slippery shoes and young children should be supervised especially if it has rained.

Les Amandiers

K.T. Germany
Review Submitted: September 10, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
We just returned from a week's holiday at Les Amandiers and wholeheartedly agree that the property is lovely, and the location great -- the bakery in Fayence is only a ten minute walk, and a couple of big supermarkets are just a five minute drive away. There are many wonderful attractions nearby, such as Lac St. Cassien, and the beautiful medieval perched villages. Just a little further afield (about 30 minutes) is the Mediterranean -- our favourite beach was Theoule sur Mer. For those willing to drive a little further, St. Tropez is about an hour away. All in all a great holiday in a enchanting home!
Owner's Response: I'm so glad that KT from Germany had a super holiday and has also fallen under the spell of Les Amandiers. We find it harder and harder to leave on every visit - from Jill and Nicholas, the owners.

Family holiday with young children, May 2009

Review Submitted: June 4, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We had a wonderful time in Les Amandiers. The weather was lovely and we were able to use the pool with its spectacular views! The setting of the house is so peaceful and the view is beautiful. It was great to be able to walk through Tourettes to nearby Fayence (10-15mins if you are slow) and enjoy all the shops and restaurants there. The house is very well situated for exploring the nearby villages and also the coast. We used the comfortable spacious double room and the next door bunkbed room for our 3 and 5 year olds, but there is also a twin room on the top floor more suitable for older children (steep stairs as described). The house is quite rustic as you would expect and old stone house to be, but everything worked well. We really relaxed and enjoyed all our meals outside on the terrace listening to the Church bells. The gardens as mentionned are terraced and you have to be aware of the kids, but we didn't find it a problem. It might be if you had more toddler age children or are not willing to keep and eye on the kids.

Les Amandiers

Pickles Country
Review Submitted: February 26, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2007
We are a family of four with two children, aged 10 and 8. We had a wonderful stay at Les Amandiers. Spectacular views, lovely setting, wonderful for meals on the terrace. We could relax while the children spent hours looking for creepy-crawlies in the undergrowth. They were fascinated in particular by little lizards and, remarkably, studied them very quietly once found! The walk to Fayence was a daily excursion for fresh croissants and baguettes for breakfast, and also a couple of dinners in the evening. We did quite a lot of sightseeing, mainly to the marinas and resorts on the Cote d'Azur. It was a very successful holiday, which we would love to repeat.

Great Vacation

Canadians in France Toronto, Canada
Review Submitted: February 13, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2007
Our holiday was spectacular. Les Amandiers is a lovely, cozy place and we would certainly recommend it. We were two couples, and found it comfortable and clean (but we fought over the light, airy and spacious master bedroom). The terrace off the main floor was great for taking in the breathtaking view and sipping coffee in the mornings as we planned our days, and where we had many wonderful meals of wine, cheese and fresh food from the local shops in Fayence. The location is a great base for exploring the region - everywhere from the Gorges du Verdon area (highly recommend) to Grasse to the coast is a car ride away. But if you prefer a more relaxed week, you won't be disappointed staying put and going into Fayence - a lovely small town with friendly locals, nice shops, great restaurants and market. The only mistake we made was going to Paris after our week here - should have done it the other way around so that we could go home with the relaxed, tranquil feeling of this region of France - it's contagious!

We were very pleased with our holiday at this lovely house in Tourettes. The house was in fact better than was described, the view from the patio and garden stunning. The villages of Tourettes and Fayence close by were beautiful. We can say without hesitation that we had a wonderful holiday and will book again ..
