What to do in St Cyr

St Cyr is an ideal departure point for many varied excursions – whether by car, boat, bicycle or horse or simply on foot. Lying between the spectacular Cassis Calanques and the Côte d’Azur with, as its name suggests – clear blue seas and skies all year round – this large village or small town is in the heart of the famous Bandol vineyards. It is proud of its historical museum, (built on the site of Roman villas dating back to the 1st century), its Contemporary Art Centre and above all its Statue of Liberty, sculpted by Bartholdi, who built the New York version

What to do out & about

For those wishing to venture further afield there are many spectacular hill-top villages in the Var, some only a few minutes away, such as la Cadière d’Azur or le Castellet, or you can easily reach the Cassis Calanques (30 minutes), the beautiful Renaissance city of fountains in Aix-en-Provence (40 minutes), the Sainte Beaume mountain with its famous cave & monastery (40 minutes), the beautiful preserved islands of Porquerolles & Port Cros (1 hour), the picturesque Luberon villages (1 ½ hours), the breath-taking Gorges du Verdon (1-2 hours) or the wild Camargue with its renowned white horses, black bulls & pink flamingos (1-2 hours)….
