'LES CYPRÈS' is a true taste of Provence. A restored stone cottage 200 years old, with walls 3 feet thick, cool inside in the summer. There are all mod cons for a perfect self catering holiday. The house is set in 9 acres, and surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. The closest property is 100 metres away, a quiet country road 400 metres away. Incredibly romantic and calm, a perfect honeymoon hideaway. In the old provence tradition, the stone stairs to the bedrooms are outside. The restored stone pool,HEATED to 25°C MIN, chlorine free, is not overlooked, and is solely for the use of the occupants of the cottage. LES CYPRÈS is calm and peaceful, yet only 3km from the lively village of Cotignac. You can swim in the pool, you can sunbathe. YOU CAN JUST DO NOTHING!. THE RENTAL FEE INCLUDES EVERYTHING! Cotignac is a pretty, unspoiled Provence village set at the foot of ancient limestone cliffs, and designated 'Village de Caractère', and 'Un des plus beaux villages de France'. It was founded before the Romans, and in the 19th century was at the centre of the olive and silkworm industries. It is at the heart of the Côte de Provence vineyards. The village has many beautiful fountains and a weekly Provençal market, plus the benefit of several restaurants and shops. In the summer, a festival of films and concerts are presented in the spectacular outdoor 'Théatre du Rocher'. To the south, Cotignac is 1 hour from St. Tropez and the Cote d'Azur. To the north at 45 minutes is the breathtaking Gorge de Verdon and beautiful Lac St. Croix, with the lavender fields of Valensole nearby.To the west at 1hour is Aix en Provence, and Avignon at 2 hours. To the east the Italian border is 90 minutes away.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Bookings should be accompanied by a non returnable deposit of 30% of the rental fee, and will be confirmed by e-mail or post. The balance, plus a returnable breakages fee of £400, should be paid eight weeks before arrival. The breakages deposit, subject to final inspection, will be returned by electronic transfer or post at the end of the rental.
    Bookings made within eight weeks of the rental date should be paid in full at the time of booking and are not refundable.
    Rentals are from Saturday to Saturday.
    The property is available from 4.30pm. day of arrival, and should be vacated by 9.30am. day of departure.

    Directions will be sent on receipt of final payment.

    A cot, high chair and playpen are available together at an extra charge of £50 per week.

    There is extra charge of £25 per week per dog.

Notes: In the traditional provence style, the stone staircases to the bedrooms are outside. The two double bedrooms can be converted to two twins on request. Possibility of 2 adults in one room, and 2 adults and 1 child in the other. The swimming pool is HEATED by 'heat pump', from beginning of May to end of September. THE MINIMUM TEMPERATURE IS 25 DEGREES. The pool measures 8m.x4m.x1.6m deep. It is chlorine free, and is sterilised by a salt electrolysis system. The pool is 10 meters from the house and is solely for the use of the occupants. It is surrounded by a hedge, and is totally private. There is a childproof barrier, and a pool alarm for protection. Pool / beach towels are also provided, costing you less baggage. Well behaved pets will be considered. Please ask the owners.

You will fall in love with LES CYPRÈS in its tranquil setting. C' EST UN PETIT COIN DE PARADIS!! You may just want to lie in the sun or swim in the pool. FROM 1st MAY TO 31ST SEPTEMBER, THE POOL IS HEATED BY 'HEAT PUMP' TO A MINIMUM 25°C. You can go to the village for your croissants and your baguettes. You can sit at a cafe and watch village life. YOU CAN JUST DO NOTHING!

If you feel a little more energetic there are plenty of walks from the house, and you can explore the surrounding tracks and paths, either on foot, or by bicycle. In the spring the wild flowers are glorious! The village has a bouledrome, tennis courts, a fitness trail, and a children's playground. There is horse riding, fishing, sailing, kayaking, climbing, diving, & golf all within a short car ride away. There are wine tastings at the local domains, & evening feasts & dancing in Cotignac & the local villages. Cotignac market on a Tuesday morning is a must, & each of the surrounding villages has its market day. If this is not enough the beaches and nightlife of the Cote d'Azur are 75 minutes away. The Var has 12 championship golf courses, including Nans les Pins, La Motte, and others, 45 minutes away. Probably the best is Barbaroux, at Brignoles, only 25 minutes away

The village has a tourist office which is full of information on local events and further afield. There is WiFi connection at the Office de Tourisme. Maggi and Derek are happy for you to use their computer on request. Inside the house is a list of local restaurants-gourmet to pizza, and maps and guidebooks. The owners speak English and French, and live here permanently, 100 meters away, and are happy to give any help and information you may require. We are officially registered with the ' Office de Tourisme de Cotignac' and the 'Syndicat Mixte du Pays de la Provence Verte'.

A perfect cottage for a perfect holiday

A beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. Maggi and Derek provided a warm welcome, and have equipped Les Cypres with everything you could wish for. On the days when we managed to tear ourselves away from the pool, we had a great time exploring the surrounding area, including the stunning scenery of the Verdun Gorge, and lots of picturesque provencal villages. Cotignac, just a few minutes drive away, is a charming village with some nice restaurants, but you’ll want to spend most nights sitting out under the arbour with a glass of wine and some food on the barbeque.

We had a wonderful fortnight at Les Cypres. The house, gardens and pool were perfect and even better in reality than in the photos. The nearby town of Cotignac is busy without being too 'touristy' and has everything you need for a perfect holiday.
Derek and Maggi were on hand if you needed anything and their friendly advice was always spot on.
We visited local vineyards and lavender fields; we went to Aix en Provence and Avignon; we saw the beautiful villages around Lac de Sainte-Croix, but mostly we stayed in our beautiful surroundings at the house. We cant wait to go back! Don't hesitate - just book it!

Les Cypres exceeded all of our expectations. We felt as though we were in a movie. Stunning gardens and a fantastic pool. Derek and Maggi were wonderful hosts and haven't forgotten anything in equipping the cottage. A week wasn't long enough to explore this fabulous area. The inaugural La Camague was a unique experience. I'm still dreaming of the wonderful experience we had.

Les Cypres is a 'Hidden Gem' and truly 'Paradise-en-Provence'. Derek & Maggi are wonderful hosts and have paid every attention to detail to make Les Cypres a perfect holiday home. If you are seeking a peaceful and relaxing holiday in Southern Provence, then you need look no further! The local village is just a 10 minute drive away and has every amenity necessary. There are lovely shops, restaurants, cafes and bakeries, etc. Canoeing on the nearby river is a must to see kingfishers and herons. As school teachers we rate Les Cypres as 10 out of 10, an A*.
